Bono: Ive Grown Very Fond of George W. Bush
Rolling Stone | SIMON VOZICK-LEVINSON | NOVEMBER 30, 2018
...Tomorrow, December 1st, is World AIDS Day, and Bono stopped by The Today Show to reminisce about that partnership. The interview was conducted by co-host Jenna Bush Hager, the former presidents daughter, which meant questions like Do you remember the first time you met my dad?
Yeah, well, he didnt want to see me, which is fair enough, Bono recalled. Different political views and whatever. I was the guy who had to come into the office and get him to look up from his big oak table, there in the Oval Office, to let his values tell him what to do.
Bonos close work with George W. Bush was surprising at the time to many who saw his presidency as an unmitigated humanitarian disaster. (Many historians are now wondering whether Bush, in fact, will be remembered as the very worst president in all of American history, historian Sean Wilentz wrote in a 2006 Rolling Stone cover story that assessed the impact of Bushs disastrous choices in Iraq, New Orleans and elsewhere.)...
...Ive become very fond of him, Bono added. Underneath his armor, theres passion, compassion. He has it.

There's a real "rebel"
Mr. Tax Exile himself. Another clown in the ongoing show.

(24,557 posts)Think less of Bono now since reading this this horseshit. Hey Bono, take a poll in Iraq on what they think the 2003 US invasion accomplished, asshole.

He could have a heart as light and pure as a feather, and put the policies he carried out killed hundreds of thousands of people needlessly, triggered regional political disruptions that affected tens of millions of people directly, and ignored all the mounting evidence about climate change.

(21,611 posts)Bono's philanthropy is legendary. He has done great thinks across the political spectrum. Yes that includes working with republicans if it helps him achieve his goals of supporting worthy causes. it isn't like he got friendly with Bush to help him push the iraq war.
I mean, did you even READ the article?
Quote:
"Bono paid a visit to the White House with the goal of getting then-president George W. Bush on board with the worldwide fight against HIV/AIDS. The U2 frontmans powers of persuasion worked: Bush launched the Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) the following year, and the program has gone on to bring lifesaving drugs to many millions of people (though not without running into some controversy along the way)."
Are you upset this happened?
Have some perspective.
