Donald Trump’s lawyer Joe Tacopina said on Friday that the former president would surrender without protest if indicted on criminal charges over alleged hush money paid out to porn star Stormy Daniels—sent down from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office. “There won’t be a standoff at Mar-a-Lago with Secret Service and the Manhattan DA’s office,” Trump attorney Joe Tacopina told Daily News reporter Molly Crane-Newman. That news follows NBC News reporting earlier in the day that law enforcement agencies are preparing for a possible Trump indictment to drop as early as next week. “Local, state, and federal law enforcement and security agencies are preparing for the possibility that former President Donald Trump will be indicted as early as next week, according to five senior officials familiar with the preparations,” the publication noted.

The last thing he, not to mention the rest of the Republicans, wants in the history books, is a photo, out there for all eternity, of a Republican former American president being led away in handcuffs. It's not like there's any danger of him fleeing the country. If he did that, the money behind the Republican Party would almost certainly arrange for him to accidentally fall out of a tenth floor window somewhere--while he was "vacation," of course. Sochi, Dubai, Kish, it doesn't matter. The Republicans do NOT want to enter the 2024 election with their most recent Oval Office holder fleeing to some place that does not have an extradition treaty. Photos of Trump sitting on a beach in Abu Dhabi drinking Ginger Ale, giving the finger to the papparazzi following him, are definitely NOT what the Republicans want to see on Democratic Campaign posters next year. Imagine--the left half is a shot of Jimmy Carter, hammer in hand, helping Habitat for Humanity build a house for someone, and next to Carter, Trump giving the finger on a beach with a luxury hotel in the background and Arab servants bringing him Big Macs and Coke on a silver platter. A big slogan up top--"Which Party Do You Trust To Run America?"

The Kochs, the Mercers and the FSB, on orders from you-know-who, will have prepared some tenth story window long before THAT little gift can get served to us on a silver platter.

if Trump refuses to turn himself in.

I wish Trump would try to stay in Florida and force this on DeSantis.
