A few months ago, Atticus posted the lyrics of what became the first and third verses of this song.
What then happened in sequence was this: I asked him if it was OK if I used them as the basis of a TFT video. He gave his blessing, I added a second verse of my own, got the band together in Atlanta remotely, recorded it, gave it to Cinebot Video, also in Georgia, and loosely guided them through the screenplay (although Alison knew pretty much what I wanted), and we sent the final version to The Parody Project to put it out on their channel.
A DU first!! We gave Atticus his due credit for his great lyrics in the ending credits.

(80,417 posts)The music perfectly complemented the lyrics and video.
All of it highlighted the gravity and tragedy of events on Jan 6.

(59,877 posts)Whether or not it gains any traction remains to be seen.
I was told, no idea how much truth there is to this, that Youtube has a rightward bias, and restricts, with varied degrees of severity, access to uncomfortable videos, especially since Jan. 6th.
If you look at our slip-sliding away parody about Trump contemplating Bidens impending inauguration, it got over 400,000 views. These days, its a struggle to reach 10,000.

(59,877 posts)Just go to Youtube, type in The Freedom Toast and/or Parody Project. We have done dozens together, and Don has done at least as many on his own.
I saw his solo work, and was really impressed, so I started sending him my own lyrics suggestions. He liked Wasting Away In Mar-a-Lagoville, sang it snd did the video himself. It has close to half s million views, so it must have connected.

(59,877 posts)I had never thought of doing something to that tune. The band, more a studio band than anything else, was up to it, as always. The videography was a little tricky, but we and our main video partner, Alison at Cinebot, got it down after many consultations and edits.
