His wife Elizabeth, who once was a member here, was dying of cancer while Edwards merrily traveled the campaign trail with his mistress, with whom he even had a baby.

He lied and lied and lied about it.

Unbelievably, it was the National Enquirer who caught him essentially in the act. He STILL denied it after that, if I remember correctly.

It was a sordid, horrid mess, and I cannot begin to imagine what Elizabeth endured.
