On MSNBC now, presser.
Said the foundations of the Republican Party are sound.
Asked if the GOP will be willing to raise taxes especially since a poll showed a majority of Americans were in favor of raising taxes on the wealthy. Boehner answered that the problem with that is taxes would raised on small businesses (the job creators) and basically stifle growth.
They haven't learned a damn thing. GOP still lead by teabaggers that will not compromise and will not work with the POTUS.
Major problem.
Hopefully there will be a copy of the video up soon.

I dont give a crap about my coworkers feelings at this point, the bald faced GOP lies are just too damned much.

And I wasn't saying it at the top of my lungs, maybe a tic louder than "cough cough bullshit cough".

(7,932 posts)you DO NOT have a small business, by that time you have a rather large business with more than a few employees.

(17,651 posts)When most folks think of small businesses, we're thinking of the coffee shop down the street or the new laundromat on the corner.

(328 posts)... congress defines small businesses as the number of *Owners* not how many employees. Haliburton is a small business, so are a number of other global conglomerates.... all for tax breaks.

(9,494 posts)He can't stand up to Eric Cantor and the teaparty that has destroyed his party. No wonder he cries all of the time. I thought he was going to cry at that last question but he ran away instead.

(62,683 posts)I give him credit for taking questions, although his bullshit argument against taxing the wealthy piss me off.
Why doesn't anybody ask WHY HASN'T THIS TAX CUT PRODUCED ANY JOBS THUS FAR????
And, remember when Boehner said he would bring a zillion new jobs (I forget the number) when he became Speaker? Why has that disappeared off the radar?
All in all' I think Boehner has the potential to be pretty reasonable, old school Republican if he weren't being yanked by the extremists (and if only to agree with the Dems so he could get out of the room in time to hit Happy Hour).
nc4bo
(17,651 posts)GOP is in need of an exorcist. No one in the party has enough guts to say what needs to be said.
Gateley, you may be right about Boehner but ole boy is going to have to grow a pair and stand up to his fringe.

(62,683 posts)changed his tune regarding his Wednesday statement on Obamacare? I think he's afraid of Cantor.

(37,573 posts)they have learned that they can get away with their BS and the voters will not hold them accountable in the slightest.
Note to voters, if you really want to increase taxes on the wealthy then you absolutely MUST STOP sending Republicans to Congress.

heh, some of the largest already don't.
Sure would be nice to have a real media asking some questions and demanding real answers.

(328 posts)are in support of the republicrat position... don't raise their taxes.
Don't think for one minute that the major media will take the side of the average Joe.
They have a stake in keeping rich-boy taxes low.
What needs to happen is free internet sources of news and opinion need to be legitimized so the pressure of *actual* news and opinion is put on major media to more closely resemble public opinion instead of *creating* public opinion and the threat of loss of market due to skewed broadcasts becomes very real.

(20,868 posts)Since Obama's individual tax rates are generally not targeted at small, large or any business it could be a pointless political stance that allows Boehner to declare a victory if he does eventually come to a Bush tax cut agreement with Obama. We compromised, but we didn't compromise our small business tax stance...
Just throwing this idea out there.
