One of the things I’ve always wanted to ask evangelicals (except I can’t stand getting close enough to them to ask the question) is why in the Bible the only punishment for rape is to pay the owner (the man) of the property (the woman) for damages. I doubt I’d get a coherent answer because that’s exactly how they view women—as property to be used at their will.
