About the potential indictment of the clown

According to the NY Times the Most likely charge with regards to the Stormy affair is bookkeeping fraud under article 175 of the NY Penal Code!? Really, thats it?
https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/19/us/politics/trump-investigations.html

I get that this is the first step of a string of indictments, but as the saying goes if you shoot at the king don't miss, well this seems like kind of a weak shot.

1. That's not all of it. That crime becomes a felony if the fraud

was intended to conceal another crime, e.g., campaign finance violations, tax fraud, etc. They will try to show that the reason for the falsification of business records (recording the hush money as a business expense) was to conceal the fact that the purpose of the hush money payment just before the election was to benefit TFG's campaign. Bragg is going after the felony.

10. I think this is why the Tapioca lawyer is saying it was to protect the marriage.

To get it out of the realm of a campaign finance law violation.

I think this is also why Michael Cohen's testimony becomes more important. If Cohen is seen as more credible than Trump by a jury, then the campaign finance violation charge could hold.

13. Precisely. He's pitching it as TFG wanting to protect "the sanctity of his marriage"

(excuse me for a minute while I laugh hysterically) by sparing Malaria the knowledge that he was shtupping a porn actress while she was home with their new baby. Does anyone really think she didn't know what a horndog her dear hubby was? I'm guessing she was happy not to have to do the horizontal tango with that sweaty orange lump for awhile. And how many times did they interview Cohen, something like 20? He knows exactly why the hush money was paid.

We have deferred prosecution of former Presidents for an entire constitutional history for various reasons.

That being said, we never had a President that organized a mob to overthrow the government after he lost the election before.

7. I think that it's not the severity of punishment, but the certainty of conviction that is deterrent

But I doubt he will do any time for it. I know all this complicated, and personally I think there are other NY State charges that my come into play that we are not aware of yet. I doubt the guy did his own books, that was his CFOs responsibility.
