(21,299 posts)the court is telling Trump that his delay tactic will not work here. The right to a speedy trial is a rule for a reason, shit or get off the pot, indict or drop the case.
Trump is shitting his pants and is attacking Jack Smith, looks like a late bed time for Trump tonight.
Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if national security issues were involved.

Trump is a national security issue. MTG will swear otherwise proving my point. Garbage is predictable. And getting old.

(21,299 posts)to come up with a story. Corcoran will have to flip on Trump to save his ass.
What also was reported by the judge was for Corcoran to turn over any audio tapes. Wouldn't it be sweet if Corcoran has trump on tape?
If I were a Trump lawyer I would document everything, I'm guessing Corcoran did and if so, it's game over for Trump, obstruction of justice will be a slam dunk.
Fiendish Thingy
(15,569 posts)Then it will make sense.
This is related to Howells ruling regarding Corcorans documents, I believe, which she has already provided to DOJ, and Trump wants to block them from using as evidence.
The only thing I expect to happen tomorrow will be an interim ruling, which will then be appealed by either Trump or DOJ to the next higher court.
gab13by13
(21,299 posts)there will not be any appeal.

(3,801 posts)and these god damn judges could have been doing these expedited rulings all along. Fuck the broken courts and the assholes like trump who exploit them. Jesus!!! The Cheeto fuckmunch has always been a national security threat as well as a threat to our democratic system of government, but the judiciary seemed to go along with the big stall. Fuck!!!!

(21,299 posts)"The appeals courts order from Judges Cornelia Pillard, J. Michelle Childs and Florence Pan, all Democratic appointees doesnt identify Corcoran or the case at issue but makes clear that the government was on the winning side of the case in Howells court."
It seems to me the Appeals court has already made up its mind.

(21,299 posts)Funny that she hasn't been mentioned, maybe she already spilled her guts and that was part of the evidence of criminal activity?

(42,690 posts)District Court Judge Howell ruled that, under the crime-fraud principle, Corcoran could be required to testify. Corcoran is fighting that order. The Court of Appeals is fast-tracking the challenge and the "documents" that Corcoran is required to specify are communications between Corcoran and Trump (or others) that Corcoran is going to argue should remain protected by the attorney-client privilege.
I could be completely wrong, but I don't think the "documents" referred to in the court's order are the classified documents.
gab13by13
(21,299 posts)with the added caveat that the Appeals court, without naming Corcoran, has already stated that it agrees with the government's position. This says to me that it's possible that Corcoran may be testifying "imminently," not the legal definition of imminent.

(42,690 posts)And when did Weissman say there could be no appeal of the court's decision?

(10,045 posts)Howell allowed the information to be provided to the DOJ immediately and that Corcoran had to testify, without giving them the time to appeal, likely brought this on so quickly. I do think this was Howell's intention to prevent Trump from further delay in his appeals.

UPDATE: Trump lawyers made two midnight filings to stave off effort by DOJ effort to piece Trumps attorney-client privilege in Mar-a-Lago documents cast.
At 5:36AM, DOJ filed a 6,400-word response, meeting the appeals courts 6AM deadline. https://politico.com/news/2023/03/21/trump-crime-fraud-attorney-documents-probe-00088215

What happens next? Presumably the appeals court will rule pretty quickly before noon and maybe even by 9am.
Keep an eye out for Trump lawyers appearing at the federal courthouse today, and possibly even for Corcoran to testify.

The ruling by the federal District Court in D.C. came as its chief judge wound up her term supervising the grand jury.
