BREAKING: Manhattan grand jury not meeting today. Indictment likely delayed until next week.
Yet this raises a possibility that Manhattan DA has been told to stand down because DOJ could indict Trump on Mar-a-Lago documents as early as tomorrow.
Im gonna get drunk this weekend after getting the pool and lanai ready for warm weather

(31,022 posts)so far, he's never seen consequences for anything beyond a fine.
He very likely doesn't think he'll ever see any for anything.
He might be right; I hope he's wrong.

(31,022 posts)Im sure he never expected that the FBI would get a search warrant and come to Mar-a-Lago either. Im sure he was counting on that they wouldnt

(11,288 posts)Who the fuck believes that Trump isn't going to be indicted in NY because a "bigger indictment " is coming?
The guy is above the law.

(16,386 posts)And if you question it they get big mad. Im sure the stand down theory fits in with their daily rationalizations that things are happening and all the doubters will get theirs any day now. 🙄

It would probably be NY Attorney General.
Honestly, with the goods she's got on TFG in her civil suit, do you really think she'd blow that to collude w/ anyone?

(102,264 posts)authority? The Manhattan DA is NOT SDNY (Southern District of New York--part of DOJ). They are independent as are the other state/local jurisdictions.
Yes, DOJ can make requests. They can even pressure and try to manipulate or negotiate. But they cannot ORDER state and local AGs to stand down.

(38,556 posts)But this one just feels like small potatoes to me.
It'll happen when it happens. Not much point in getting all worked up over stuff that isn't in your control.
(Of course, the same can be said about GA and Federal indictments.)

(21,755 posts)With Corcoran is testifying tomorrow in the documents case and that has the potential to open up more to look at but... Even if it does not open up more, I've seen no indication Corcoran is the final witness. While I think they are close to done, I'd be surprised if they finished tomorrow. So... I don't buy this tweet one bit.

Ocelot II
(115,686 posts)because DoJ has no authority to tell the Manhattan DA to stand down. The federal and state systems are separate and independent, and DoJ can't and wouldn't interfere in any way with Bragg's case; there is NO possibility that is happening. Also, there are any number of entirely innocuous reasons why the grand jury isn't considering the case today. Grand juries are seated to hear more than one case at a time, and the delay could be related to another case and might involve nothing more sinister than somebody's scheduling conflict.
Get a grip, people.

(15,611 posts)Is any other source independently (as opposed to retweeting Snell) reporting that DOJ is ready to indict tomorrow?

(115,686 posts)of some rando on Twitter. This numpty seems not to understand even the basic machinery of the federal vs. the state government, and so should not be trusted to deliver any credible information about these cases.

(4,616 posts)than just disheartening. It's mind boggling. On a site where the media and social media is blamed for "misinformation" on a near constant basis. (Which I in no way deny that is accurate) We have Twitter splashed as a source at a minimum of 50 times a day. We have the cable news shows on a live comentary of Guest X said... and when ... doesn't happen, it's back to the "it's all the media's fault". It's an endless loop.
