How long before we can call it?
Seriously.
How long before the "Garland is a Genius 3-D playin' chess champion" fan club admit this was just another slow walk? Or any state entity in Georgia, New York or even Florida...Like asking for a hack from a hostile foreign adversary on live national television. Or 'lock her up'. Or having stolen classified documents from the People's House. Or Mueller. Or...well...FITZMAS
Two more days? Weeks? Months? YEARS?

(9,036 posts)But things have been moving faster, I think all can admit. Trump called for this "Tuesday they will arrest me" BS. Can't fairly blame that on Garland or Jack Smith, or Alvin Bragg.
The DOJ has been bending over backwards for this orange chump, but that patience appears to be over.
We all want indictments and convictions. There is no need to fight amongst ourselves because things are not happening on our timetable.
I prefer to remain a cautious optimist. Pessimism is bad for the mind and body. I know. I've been there

(4,147 posts)at some point, saying "I'll believe it when I see it" isn't pessimistic, it's just honest
Hell, I will believe it when I see it too. I don't think that is being pessimistic.
What is pessimistic is when people say shit like "He will never be charged." "He will get away with it, as he always does." "It will never happen."
When I see people say shit like that, I just go the other way. No time for that.

(44,186 posts)J6 is a huge really complicated case. It is like a mob prosecution with times 100 as many pieces.
This shit takes time. There is no slow walking here:
- There are very active grand juries working on those two cases. There is legal stuff that had to get done.
- As you know Smith just got a victory on Evan Corcoran, who was refusing to testify. This is a BFD:

Trump lawyer M. Evan Corcoran to testify to grand jury on Friday as classified documents case heats up
A federal judge ordered Corcoran to turn over transcripts of recordings of conversations he had with Trump to special counsel Jack Smith.
Smith has to force Pence to testify about J6 as well, and that has to go to court too. Seems like this is being fast-tracked, and I expect Smith will succeed there as well.
My point is that none of this is slow-walking. This is stuff that has to be done to make a solid case to the grand juries. Both Corcoran and Pence have information that will definitively nail Trump.
There is a lot going on.

(4,147 posts)It is absurd that democrats have to live under micro-0scrutiny while republicans commit felonies literally on national tv.
Also, the buck stops where it stops now.
Merrick Garland is an abject disappointment, by what he has ALREADY done (and not done for that matter)
I'll believe it when I see it Don't try to demand I believe when I don't.

(51,308 posts)I was taught at a very early age never to count my chickens before they hatch. There were also lessons about crying wolf. Most of us were taught these lessons.
hose were considered good lessons for a rational life, but here if we operate from those lessons we learned...we are "defeatists", or we are cynical, or part of the wet blanket brigade.
