Karamo is vehemently against abortion. Her faith as a Christian, she said, compels her to speak out against it. And Karamo didn’t spare from judgement the 57% of Michigan voters who chose “yes” on Proposal 3, which amended the state constitution to include a right to reproductive freedom, including abortion.

“I think they’re participants in murder. I think they’re complicit, absolutely,” she said. “I think it’s an indictment on our culture, of where we’re going. But in some regard, it isn’t the full burden of the party, the goal of the party is to win elections but to still speak truth to those issues.”

She has called abortion a “death cult” and “child sacrifice” in the past. The Satanic Temple, which describes itself as a “non-theistic religious organization” and doesn’t believe in worship or Satan, winkingly refers to abortion as a “sacrament” and has used their religious status in legal fights. Karamo points to their advocacy as evidence abortion is a “satanic practice.”

“For too long, the Republican Party has not honored its base,” she said. “They don’t honor their platform, their convictions.”
