Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsSo I am celebrating the Big 70 tonight.
Drinking a few beers....by myself. Had a medical review a few days ago and my PHP asked...do you have any issues? I said...."nope, I'm consistent....have been for the last 50 years of my life. My vices, my weight, and my outlook on life haven't changed."

(31,731 posts)Thinking back to my grandparents....they were really old and they were 65. I remember my mom on her 70th and I told her how amazed I was that she was so much younger than her parents at this age. Time is a pretty strange concept.....

(2,909 posts)My dad was born in 1919, and made it to 82 years before cancer took him away. My mom? Bless her heart, she was 99 before passing, and the best was that her mind was still sharp as a tack and no serious medical conditions.
OAITW r.2.0
(31,731 posts)Mom passed at 73....she had ALS - her mind was sharp to the end, but her body completely failed her. I'd have preferred that she lost her mind first.

(59,877 posts)I was joined by a few people from Holland, some Germans, one Austrian, and some special women described by none other than the late Stan Lee as "your fabulous females." It seemed like what I imagined a café outside the European Parliament must be like an hour after their session has closed for. I was happy for the company, but, except for the beer, your solution would have been my second choice.
