Road Back Home

I’m heading down a road back home, to go where I am safe
And be with friends when I atone for all my past mistakes
The road seems longer going back this time around, my friend
Could it be I’m losing track of signs around the bend?

That is why I’m telling you what’s going on inside
Just in case I lose my way, you’ll have this small confide
All my life I played and stayed just one step off the lead
Always knowing everything and nothing in between

Over there I became aware of just how far I’d been
and made a pledge upon the ledge to start anew again
I did my best with what I had and tried to be a man
With my lover by my side, she’s where my life began

Almost home, I’m going strong, popped in my last CD
Up all night, it won’t be long and soon I will be free!
A final turn is all it takes for me to see the lights
Folks and friendlies greeting me, so time to make it right.
