(9,094 posts)if Bragg doesn't indict. I haven't trusted him from the beginning. A bad side to that is that if he does not indict then the MAGAT crowd is going to take that as an indication that their threats of violence are working.

(130,842 posts)he wasn't serious about it. Anyhow, the grand jury decides by a majority vote - 12 out of 23 - whether to indict; the DA doesn't.

(9,094 posts)but got a great deal of heat and only then did he reopen the investigation. It won't matter what the GJ does if Bragg doesn't want to prosecute, settles for a soft plea deal or pursues with a weak effort in court. I believe he can also just dismiss the GJ without asking for an indictment. It's not Bragg's money he's spending. He may have gone through all of this just so he could cover himself by claiming he "did all he could".

(130,842 posts)"I think they've already dropped the case," Trump told reporters aboard his plane after appearing at a campaign rally in Waco, Texas. "It's a fake case. Some fake cases, they have absolutely nothing." https://www.axios.com/2023/03/26/trump-suggests-da-dropped-stormy-case
He cited no evidence for his thought, of course.

(3,245 posts)I'm wondering if how big or small of a majority to indict would be an indication if after the fact, Braggs office makes a decision to try and make a plea deal?
Or, if the fact that the grand jury does indeed issure an indictment, does that mean the Braggs office has an obligation to proceed?

It's amazing. The fact that the wealthy and powerful are never held accountable is what gave us this dipshit in the first place.
It also appears that is what will allow him to skate.
