What was the speculation about Petraesus's meeting at the WH? Weren't people wondering if he was going to come into takeover the SOS slot? I was only half listening this morning.

(10,942 posts)His wife is a big time consumer advocate that worked for Elizabeth Warren. Patraeus and his wife have been married for 37 years. I would guess that Patraeus is at least a moderate politically, possibly left of center.

(50,561 posts)Wes Clark is the only non-conservative general I know of, and he's a centrist. Generals are typically Eisenhower-style classic conservatives.
A general can't be a teabagger because teabagging is incompatible with the spending levels required by the military, but they can be pro-life, anti-weed conservatives.

(26,219 posts)She really has a heart for our service members. I heard her give a talk about the horrific things that happened while people were deployed (foreclosures, forced bankruptcy). Glad she is at the helm on this. Sorry she is now having to deal with this louse.
