WI: Knodl, Habush Sinykin on 'UpFront' point to potential GOP supermajority as factor in 8th SD race
The two candidates running in the special election to replace longtime Milwaukee-area Republican state Sen. Alberta Daring both point to the chambers potential GOP supermajority as a defining factor in the race.
Republican state Rep. Dan Knodl and Dem Jodi Habush Sinykin appeared in new interviews on WISNs UpFront, which is produced in partnership with WisPolitics.com.
Simply gives us some more authority in the areas of oversight and accountability of elected officials, appointed officials, Knodl said. If there are some that are out there that are corrupt, that are failing at their tasks, then we have the opportunity to hold them accountable.
Knodl was referring to the state Senates impeachment power with a two-thirds majority.
The Milwaukee County justice system is failing, and that includes prosecutions, Knodl said. So DA Chisholm should be looked at. Ive already called for his resignation. The judges, the circuit court judges, I think, have failed the community by releasing or not having a high enough bail on these criminals, the perpetrators. And so they need to be looked at. And Janet Protasiewicz, which is a circuit court judge right now in Milwaukee, and she has failed.
