way to gain entry through secured doors. Did it many times in the service. A rifle or handgun will work in a pinch but potentially take many more rounds with a higher potential failure rate. Most entry teams will have one or more members with shotguns (in addition to their regular load out) just for this purpose.

5. Shoot, in that case a brick would probably have been more efficient than a rifle so it

definitely was not about the power of an assault weapon. Don't get me wrong, assault weapons (and maybe more importantly their ammunition dynamics) are VERY efficient in doing maximum harm to bodies they hit - they just are not designed for breech operations.

My HS has glass doors and somebody suggested they replace them with opaque metal doors.

To which others said something about the 90 foot stretch of windows along the front of the building, or the glass wall to the caferia ...

My church runs a day care. It's a liberal church that RW extremists and Evangelicals would definitely not agree with. For security, all doors in the building are locked all day, every day. There is only one door that any one can enter by. It has a buzzer and intercom for identifying yourself. A church employee can buzz you in or refuse to.

But if someone shoots open the door, those kids wouldn't have a chance.

Do we have to have armed guards at every institution in the country now?

People still need to get buzzed in for services on Sundays, but usually somebody is near the only entrance door that we use now and can open it from the inside for people that they know.

During Sunday School and regular church services, one member who has past military experience stands in a hallway that gives him a view and quick access to any breach of any of the entrances. He carries a concealed gun.

But he's not there on weekdays, AFAIK. I don't know what security there is on weekdays besides the locked door.

You can have a school, that's easy to escape in a fire, or a prison, which isn't.

No, it's not the job of the schools to stop gun violence.

And according to Heavy her mom posted on Facebook about the horrors of school shootings.

“ Hale’s mother deleted her Facebook page after Hale was identified as the suspect in the shooting. Posts viewed by Heavy show that Norma Fort Hale had posted about gun control and school shootings in the past. Hale’s mother and brother could not be reached for comment by Heavy.

In March 2018, she shared a link to a Sandy Hook Promise petition to “keep guns out of schools,” and wrote in the caption on the post “So important!” In February 2018, Norma Hale, the suspect’s mom, shared another link to a Sandy Hook Promise petition to “make large-capacity gun magazines illegal,” without any additional comment.” https://heavy.com/news/audrey-hale/
