So her parents probably sent her to this school hoping to change her. Makes you wonder what she went through while a student there.

(51,308 posts)I was bullied in elementary school.
I never entertained murderous feelings, but if I had, I think they'd have faded some two decades later.
Irish_Dem
(82,322 posts)Perhaps the bullying started in elementary school, but didn't end there.
Perhaps it continued into middle and high school.
Also, it is possible there was more than bullying, bad things can happen in these religious schools.
Which yes could lead to mental illness or severe PTSD in later life.
There could also have been an underlying depressive disorder, or traumatic childhood experience in the home.
But yes why does it all come to a head at age 28.
Usually there is some sort of triggering event, with the past history as a back drop.
A job loss, broken romance, death of a loved one, etc.
Of course I am just guessing, I have no data.
Educated guessing based on training and experience.
mcar
(46,354 posts)but you are assuming the murderer knew she was trans at that early age (I know, some do), that her parents knew she was trans, that the school is fundamentalist (lot of Presbys are mainstream).
We will learn more in time.

(82,322 posts)She is gay, and she looked, acted and felt different from her peer group.
Young children don't know the terms and words for any of this, they just know they don't fit in
and they are getting teased.

Nothing there about her having easy access to guns .

(82,322 posts)Or did she use something else to kill the children and adults?

Irish_Dem
(82,322 posts)I thought the shooter used guns to kill people.
So we are discussing that. But you seem to be saying guns were not used.
So I am confused.
And I have no opinion about the OP.
I do have my own opinions based on science and facts.

You could say to the OP that you have your own opinions based on science and facts and not conjecture like what the OP did .

(4,616 posts)do we know this? And what does it matter? All I can find is they found evidence of pro-nouns on social media and a manifesto with drawings of the school and what she planned to do. I've seen nor heard anything concrete that she was transgender. Maybe she was? But plastering it all over the internet like it makes a difference is just, well, I'll refrain. For now. She is a murderer who shot and killed 3 kids and 3 adults. Period! Gay, straight or trans gender make no difference.

I suspect that christo-fascist environments, propaganda, and abuse that Hale was forcibly exposed to made Hale go off the rails.

(34,852 posts)Aiden was another name she used
So, I don't know if she is transgender in the sense that there was a transition or if her gender is fluid. I believe she was born female, but appears to have male tendencies also. (Sorry if I"m not articulating this clearly) My husband has a niece like that. She's been in a limbo phase for years.
It seems more like her gender is fluid, so I don't know if this is trans or not...
I'm referring to her as "she" because her linked in is "Audrey".
Apparently, there was also an Aiden somewhere
