GOP Sen. Shocks CNN's Kaitlan Collins With 'Pretty Stark' Guns Admission

Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) surprised CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins with his assessment that Congress has gone “as far as we’re going to go” with regards to gun control.

On Wednesday’s “CNN This Morning,” Collins asked Rounds if there would be any legislative action in the wake of the latest mass school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, in which three children and three adults were killed.

“There isn’t anybody here (in Congress) that, if they could find the right approach, wouldn’t try to do something because they feel that pain,” Rounds replied.

“And yet when we start talking about bans or challenging on the Second Amendment, I think the things that have already been done have gone about as far as we’re going to with gun control,” the senator added.

The second amendment qualifies what arms are for in the very first words but the righties always ignore those.

With a Republican House and the filibuster intact in the Senate, this Congress has gone as far as it’s going to go regarding gun control.

to "make themselves small"?

If we all just quit pissing off the people with personal arsenals, and stop going to tempting "soft target locations" like concerts, malls, schools, churches, grocery stores, Walmarts, workplaces, Post Offices, hospitals, public parks, and every other place you can think of, then we would see this mass shooting carnage diminish.

Get Small and Stay Safe, America! What a slogan!

Of course they're not going to do anything. As if! The firearms business has their federal exemption locked in (much like the tobacco industry did) that keeps them off the hook for the death and mayhem their legal products cause, and Republicans aren't going to tamper with that because the money from the NRA is just too good to pass up. Even when the NRA hosts a Russian spy, Mariia Butina, as its lobbyist on the Hill, that's still not enough for Republicans to turn on the hand that feeds them so lavishly.

I think of Breaking Bad... and having a couple of people a ways away from this asshole with laser pointers... and see if he shits his pants when he notices the red dots on his chest.

We know assault weapons bans work... you want confirmation... make them illegal to have again (not just buy but simply to have them)... don't sell the ammo for them. do it for 10 years and see if mass shootings go down... but it has to be nation wide. if it doesn't reduce mass shootings, give the ammo-sexuals their AR-15s back, restock the ammo... life (and death) goes on.

But if it works (and we know for a fact that it will). Then the ban becomes permanent... and we go after more guns.
