Another one I came up with as the lockdown progressed:
Grapefruit juice + orange juice + vodka

I called it a Screwhound.

(26,856 posts)My nabe is quiet - I bet if the announcement If it had come around 3-4P definitely some would have been out in the street. But it was right at rush hour, and those who had to be working outside their homes would be on the buses, subways, or trains.
I ran outside to wooop it up for a few minutes, and not scare my neighbors! 😄
Maybe some folks are woooping it up in Times Sq. I'll check. 👍

For all the things that have happened, three things have to happen: indictments, convictions, sentences.
Celebrate that the first round of step 1 has finally launched, but don't attack fellow DUers who lacked boundless faith because... they remembered how few people have been held accountable.

Such is life.
Quite pleased that it's gotten this far.
I anticipate ongoing civil and criminal actions against Trump et al well past the date of his personal demise.
It's his "legacy", his "just desserts".
I'm quite pleased that reason has ruled within this segment of the proceedings.
As to the rest?
Time will tell as time rolls on...
May reason rule within this and all things.

(2,297 posts)I had Korbel at my wedding. Im a fan. But its far from Americas only champagne.
First of all, its not a Champagne. Champagne comes from a specific area in France. Here Korbeland othersmake sparkling wine.
Second, you can argue that because Mumms and Roederrer and Moët-Chandon are owned by European companies that theyre not American, but they are made here from grapes grown here.
Finally, as Im drinking an excellent California, Russian River Valley Chardonnay in relief (celebration might be too strong a word, but what the hell) indeed celebration, I note that if I had a bottle of Schramsberg, J, Gruet, or any of another bunch of excellent (I first spelled that eshellent because, you know, glass #3) all American sparkling wines, Id drink them and Id raise a glass to you, FailureToCommunicate, for toasting the indictment with much loved Korbel, one of Americas finest. Hallelujah!!
FailureToCommunicate
(14,605 posts)American sparkling wine that is allowed to be officially called "Champagne" due to Korbel being the first to use cuttings from the Champagne region starting way back in 1882. During the blight affecting grapes in that region in France, Korbel assisted in reintroducing cuttings that helps the region recover. Partly in recognition of that, France has allowed Korbel to continue to label their sparkling wine champagne.
Korbel champagne has been served at 10 Presidential inaugurations.
We have toured the Korbel winery in Guerneville, CA and it was fascinating, with all that history.
You made a wise choice to have it at your wedding! We chose it also for our wedding. Unfortunately, the caterer really screwed up and used most of the Korbel in the fountain, and served the crappy cheap stuff we had for the fountain...to our guests!
But in any case...let's toast to this indictment news!
Bobstandard
(2,297 posts)For some Americans, facts are triggers. You know this, and yet
(Wow. I dint know that Korbel can use Champagne in their marketing. I didnt know that their cuttings were so instrumental in helping France recover from phill era, um, flyoxeragh, uh, fly, oh, whatever, (though I knew that California saved them as they have recently saved us after the sharpshooter). Those are the facts?) Well excuuuuse me!
Good to know. Thanks. Ill take those facts and raise you- one more glass of a great American elixir!
Heres to you! And to Rachel! And to Lawerence. And to Mary Trump! And to each of those brave, clear headed Americans on the Grand Jury. And to all the rest who are celebrating!

If we havent earned the right to an all-out celebration tonight, we will NEVER have the right to one. This is the first time EVER, in HISTORY, that a former potus has EVER been indicted for ANYTHING!
We don't know exactly how this is going to play out, or how long it will take to do so, but this is a VERY BFD right here and now, regardless of what the future brings. Perspective, people!
Personally, I'll be very surprised if there aren't more indictments to come, from more than one prosecutor. But no matter what else he is indicted for, or what any of these indictments lead to, this is THE. VERY. FIRST.
History has now been made, and this will be part of the annals of history FOR ALL TIME, no matter what else does OR doesn't happen.
I am celebrating, and anyone who thinks this isn't worth celebrating can fuck all the way off, right this fucking minute!

However we werent loud about it as the announcement had just taken place and no one else seemed to know (or didnt care) and the room was full of customers and visitors from all over the country. We figured best to enjoy the moment just between ourselves and the high priced bubbly.

(28,264 posts)but my celebration is tempered by the sobering fact that we've had a former prezident that we NEEDED to indict and prosecute.
We should celebrate not only the indictment of an evil bastard, but also the fact that the rule of law prevails in this nation, and can bring said evil bastard before the bar of justice.

(9,212 posts)I felt happy upon hearing the news, not until around 8-9 pm from a post here, and we talked about it and watched the news until the wee hours.
But over time I started to feel like reality crept in
this is going to drag on forever, and we will still be held hostage by and tortured by this psycho an his band of fascists for a long time. And who knows what the end result is going to be. Probably to see that there will be no real consequences.
He is going to be running again through this, and any other indictments, things are going to get crazier. We are never going to be free of him. I really want it over for good now.
Yes it was a glimmer of hope that someone did something finally.
But overall, and I felt this right away too along with being happy, I would be a lot happier to hear he is dead by natural causes. And Ide much rather have my father back alive and well, and that none of this had ever happened and to be moving back to Canada. No matter what happens he was taken from me, and murdered and no accountability can change that although it would be something at least.
Laura PourMeADrink

(9,212 posts)I did feel happy. And I happened to be going into a store on the way back from pt and I just felt like screaming happily that fucker is being indicted everywhere, lol.
But I still felt simultaneously the pain of knowing that nothing is going to bring my father back and it feels awful. 😭
And we still have ro be continued ro be tortured by him.
