Former Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. was interviewed by Chuck Todd on Meet the Press:
TODD: Why didnt you charge the hush money case? Why didnt you ever charge it in 2018, 2019, 2020?
VANCE: Well Chuck, I dont want to get into the deliberations that might be covered by grand jury material, but its, but as I believe you know, I was asked by the U.S. Attorneys Office in the Southern District to stand down on our investigation, which had commenced involving the Trump Organization. And as, you know, as someone who respects that office a great deal, and believing that they may have perhaps the best laws to investigate, I did so. And I was somewhat surprised after Mr. Cohen pleaded guilty that the federal government did not proceed on the areas in which it asked me to stand down.

Who asked him to stand down? Was this Bill Barr? I didn't see this, but apparently, Chuck Todd didn't follow through (surprise, surprise).
Jen Psaki or someone who can ask decent questions really needs to be the host of Meet the Press

(79,011 posts)It might very well have been Barr. If not, it would have been someone he directed to do so. I doubt anyone without Barr's level of authority would have done that on their own. Add to that Barr's being as corrupt as they come, especially when it comes to issues of the power of a (republican) president.

(22,135 posts)Maybe a subpoena is in order for mr. Vance? I just cannot believe THIS comment by VANCE should be left dangling.
