Lesley Stahl's Reply To Marjorie Taylor Greene's 'Pedophile' Claim Angers Viewers

A response that stuck out for me was this when Stahl asked MTG about her constant name-calling of Democrats.... Are name-calling and personal attacks necessary to “fight for what you believe in?”
For which MTG replied...“I would ask the same question to the other side. All they’ve done is call me names and insult me nonstop since I’ve been here.” THAT"S because MTG, you are vile and mean. You show it every day by the way you act towards others and when you open your mouth!

But some critics of the Georgia Republican said the veteran journalist should have done more to refute the far-right lawmaker’s outlandish statements. Critics were already upset with the mainstream news show, arguing it was promoting Greene’s extremism by granting her air time.

Marjorie Taylor Greene: Democrats, Democrats support, even Joe Biden, the president himself, supports children being sexualized and having transgender surgeries. Sexualizing children is what pedophiles do to children.

Lesley Stahl: Wow. OK. But my question really is, can't you fight for what you believe in without all that name-calling and without the personal attacks?

That IS what she believes in.

She literally believes that Democrats, from the President on down, support "children being sexualized ... Sexualizing children is what pedophiles do to children." She thinks we're all pedophiles, and a major TV network gave her a platform to promote that belief.

For some reason Stahl thinks that she actually believes something else -- "can't you fight for what you believe in without all that name-calling" -- and the pedophile stuff is just "personal attacks."

But that IS what she believes! Same as she believes that mass shootings are false flags and forest fires are caused by Jewish space lasers.

These aren't just some rhetorical tricks that help her "fight for her beliefs" -- these are her beliefs.

The problem is RW code language not being English. Here she stated as FACT that Biden and other Democrats support "sexualiziing" children which she then equates to accepting Transgender kids and their needs. She then equates sexualizing with grooming ... ergo they are pedophiles. In one fast sentence she has 3 unsupported leaps in logic.

The problem is that that messy logic is likely already socialized in at least the Q and maybe other right wing people. Therefore, our perception that there have been far more Republican politicians, operatives and prominent people charged with pedophilia is irrelevant. ALL Democrats by her logic are quilty.

Stahl responded to that accusations as name calling. It may be that without a canned response responding directly to MTG's rat's nest of words it might be that Stahl found it difficult to directly respond.
