From @brotherjones_ on the ground in Nashville the Tennessee legislator is planning to expel lawmakers who stood with gun control advocates today.
They have been stripped from committee assignments and their member IDs have been shut off.
THIS IS NOT DEMOCRACY.

They'll be expelled because the lack of consequences has emboldened these fascists.

(18,714 posts)The Tennessee State Constitution specifically has a clause that protects legislators who are making a stand for constituents. It won't stop the fascists in this state from trying though

(9,852 posts)Not going to happen but a human blockade shutting down TN legislature and request for federal troops would be appropriate if this is as blatant as appears.
First report I have seen,

(14,374 posts)It's pseudo-sovereign citizen mumbo jumbo. They conveniently forget this is a Democratic Republic and are using their gross misinterpretation of the Constitution to justify nullifying the will of the people. To them, they are the only people and only voices that matter.

I wonder if I can get place of birth expunged from my birth certificate?
Hubby & I have reconsidered our move back to "our Smokies" - we own property just outside the Park, in a small tight-knit, Repub community.
I thought I could take them but I'm not a tolerant person and a few days ago, a good, Democrat-voting friend/old classmate told me that I'd be unhappy there. 😩 That was a bold statement for her.

(23,715 posts)NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) Three members of the Democratic Party may face an expulsion vote this evening following their interruption on the House floor Thursday afternoon.
Reps. Gloria Johnson (Knoxville), Justin Jones (Nashville) and Justin Pearson (Memphis) walked up to the well of the House during their Thursday session, violating rules of decorum in the chamber. The move has since been characterized by Republican lawmakers as an insurrection, including Speaker Cameron Sexton (RCrossville).
On Monday afternoon, just after Gov. Bill Lee announced a three-pronged approach to bolstering school safety that included $140 million for public schools to hire SROs but no mention of any gun law reform, Johnson, Jones and Pearson held a press conference debunking the insurrection claims spread by their colleagues across the aisle.
