These women have been treated poorly all season. Iowa lost full stop. I will give the First Lady the benefit of the doubt that she got caught up in their collective excellence.

...that both teams would come to the White House. It was derided by consensus.
Iowa's team is predominantly white, as is their superstar player.
LSU is a predominantly black team.
The tradition has been only the champion goes to the WH. So, this idea was contrary to tradition.

I guess they would have to have for your explanation to fit.

I do not watch any sports and have found no sports game interesting.

But glad to see women of color winning.

She meant well, but that’s not what happens in sports. Nothing to do with race.

The losing team should not share the spotlight

However she meant it, the optics would have been awful. It felt totally disrespectful to me. On a very deep level.

Then Jill would have invited the mostly black team to the White House, then let me interest you in a bridge I have for sale in the borough of Brooklyn.

Don't worry, I'll give you a good price.

https://www.npr.org/2023/04/03/1167704651/angel-reese-caitlin-clark-you-cant-see-me-gesture

Here's what happened: LSU forward Angel Reese celebrated the Tigers' fourth-quarter lead (and imminent victory) by waving one hand in front of her face — a gesture popularized by the wrestler as "You Can't See Me" — and tapping her ring finger while looking pointedly at Iowa Hawkeyes guard Caitlin Clark.

.....

The moment quickly went viral, with commentators and observers criticizing Reese for what they perceived as unsportsmanlike taunting of Clark. The word "classless" even trended on Twitter.

Reese is Black and Clark is white.

.....

And both players have used the same gesture at this year's March Madness: Clark waved a hand in front of her face two games earlier when Iowa beat Louisville to enter the Final Four.

But she didn't get criticism for it. In fact, she earned praise, including from Cena himself.

(Cena popularized the gesture.)

BUT it came off weird because normally the White House only entertains the winners.

Thing is, let them trash talk, but don't criticize one and not the other for the same gesture.

If the gesture is bad enough, criticize that - whoever does it.

Clark should have been T'd up for her face wave during the elite 8 game.

Reese spent the last several seconds of the championship game hounding Clark with her ring gesture and the cant see me hand thing. Also should have been T'd up. LSU for some reason kept saying that Clark disrespected South Carolina? I watched both games and wasn't sure what they were talking about.

I also noticed Reese making taunts to Virginia Tech when they played in the final four. She was doing the "too small' gesture. She seems to enjoy trash talking the game. The media seems to enjoy players doing this. I don't think it has any place in college ball.

Reese seems to be following the "theres no such thing as bad publicity" playbook. In my opinion shes not a great role model for young kids to follow. Neither is the LSU coach, who doesn't seem to care about her players once she gets her wins out of them. See the Brittney Griner interview where she said Mulkey wouldn't let her be an openly lesbian player, and Mulkey basically forgot Griner existed when she got imprisoned in Russia.

Kind of wish the media would have highlighted the rest of Iowa, instead of making it the Caitlin Clark show. Sure shes a great player but there are others on the team that play. I guess thats what we get these days from our crappy agenda driven media.

But trash talking, like free speech is just that TALK.

These ladies weren't beating each other up, that's hockey.

They weren't telling lies about their opposition, that's MAGA.

They were messing with each other, batter batter SWING.

IF IT'S OK for one, don't be calling out the black player because she adds a drop beat and some flava'

Didn't look right politically that the Bidens would invite a team that so happens to be from the caucus state. Maybe that was the intent, probably not, but it didn't look right in any event.

they shouldn't have been invited because Iowa is forced to have a caucus by state law?

The white player did it first, not that a silly wrestling gesture is all that bad, but twitter UNLEASHED on the blakc player..even Keith Olbermann called her a "ficking idiot." The message4 sent was that white players can trash talk (an essential aprt of sports) but if a black player does it, out comes the hate.

than previous preliminary rounds in the playoffs

Trash talking should not be a essential part of sports ,IMO. I especially hate it in football. Defender on a team down by two TD finally tackles someone for a loss of a few yards, and prances all around the field like they just won the championship.
