Have heard from several reliable Charlotte sources.
Apparently, its been going on for awhile now.
Also
.Heard hes trying to set her up with Dan Bishops congressional district IF he runs for Lt. Gov.
Hope the press uncovers this. This is truly disgusting.

(14,971 posts)Now I believe it. Is she still married? Her husband is an ex-NCDNC chair.
I also wonder if Moore will dump her now that he got this accomplished.

(42,056 posts)She is taking a big gamble.
At least 50/50 he will drop her like a hot potato.
She could lose her marriage and her job.
End up with nothing.
ETA: Sounds like this has been a long term affair.

(59,631 posts)I think the fraud was planned in advance. She was elected five months ago in a deep blue district. This was fraud, to get a Republican elected in a Democratic district. Now the Republican state legislature has a veto-proof majority.
I also think there's a lot of NRA money in North Carolina.

(59,631 posts)Elected five months ago in a deep blue district, she claimed to be a liberal Democrat. She just switched to Republican, giving the Republicans controlling our state legislature a veto-proof majority.
She is scum. I can't remember being this angry with a politician.

(17,416 posts)A person can't win an election by sleeping around, but a person would have to be very busy to make that work.
The part about him "trying to set her up" is an implication that she is switching parties (and do not mistake- I consider it a despicable move) because she can get ahead with repubs on her back more than merit.

(14,322 posts)We dont need misogyny when there are plenty of other ways to criticize her for lying to voters nd switching parties.
blm
(112,382 posts)Sorry it bothers you, but, its coming from reliable sources in Charlotte. Misogyny is what will come of her betrayal to women voters in NC.
Fiendish Thingy
(14,322 posts)I have yet to see a report from a repeatable source.
Posting rumours that a woman betrayed her constituents and switched parties because of a sexual relationship is indeed misogyny.

(46,013 posts)I don't see any misogyny. It is a story of a representative who misrepresented herself to her constituents to get elected and may have a conflict of interests. It wouldn't matter whether that individual was a man or a woman, it was dishonest and unprincipled.

(367 posts)BLM has not named sources.
PatSeg
(46,013 posts)is that allegations of an affair is misogyny. If the representative had been a man and was thought to have had an affair with the speaker, it would not be called misogyny.
Questioning whether it is true is another matter, but I don't think any of us have the right to demand someone delete their thread. That said, I think BLM gave a reasonable explanation.
It is okay to disagree respectfully.

(59,631 posts)I live in NC and I can tell you that every Democrat here is furious with her. It's interesting that you and another DUer I've never noticed before are defending her like crazy in this thread.
In contrast, I've read blm's posts for years. They have a lot of credibility on DU as a Mecklenburg County insider.
Your posts are having the opposite effect of your stated intention.
Fiendish Thingy
(14,322 posts)Cotham deserves criticism and contempt from any number of angles, but to slam her with unsourced, unsubstantiated gossip that she switched parties because of a sexual relationship with a Republican member is just plain wrong, regardless of whether the spreader of the gossip claims to have inside knowledge from local sources.
Think of the outrage if a similar claim were made against Biden, Obama, AOC, or any other Democrat, based on someone claiming to have been active in the same social circles as the individual being gossiped about.
Notice that nobody in the press is reporting this, because no one will go on the record, even anonymously , to confirm it. If the rumour is being spread here on DU, Im sure somebody in the press has asked the question.
If the claim can be verified, then Cotham indeed deserves criticism about it. Until then, its just gossip, plain and simple.

(59,631 posts)She's a lifelong Democrat who was elected in a deep blue district five months ago, who suddenly switched parties, giving the Republicans a veto-proof majority.
Something is rotten and (1) we have the right to know what's going on and (2) we must make this very, very uncomfortable for her so that more politicians don't do this.
Republicans fight filthy dirty and we stand around wringing our hands and whining. Gloves off.
Fiendish Thingy
(14,322 posts)But if its all over the papers, why not post a link to a legitimate news source and eliminate the need for unsubstantiated gossip?
