"SNIP.........
Peter Wehner: I recently wrote that Trump was behaving like a mob boss. That comparison turns out to have been insulting to mob bosses everywhere.
Andrew Weissmann, a former lead prosecutor in Robert Muellers Special Counsels office, was asked on MSNBC about Trumps attack on Judge Merchan and his family. Noting that he had prosecuted Mafia cases in the past, Weissmann said, You do not have this behavior from a mob boss. There is a rule in organized crime. You do not do this with respect to prosecutors. You dont do this with respect to the judge. You certainly dont go after their families. Its bad business to do that.'
Leave it to Donald Trump to go where Mafia dons will not.

(1,884 posts)Worse than a mob boss. His behavior is that of a wildly insecure off the charts megalomaniac sociopath who does whatever he wants and no one is going to tell him what to do. The only recourse in dealing with him, is to convict him of a crime in a court of law and sentence him to prison to stop his outrageous antics, if they are illegal.. Failing that, he can continue to carry on the way he does, as this is a democracy and we do have certain freedoms like free speech, unless one goes too far.

(11,767 posts)Trump would have been eaten alive in real organized crime. He would have at best, been a "street level thug" if that. What has propelled Trump to any status he has had, was his family's money and the desire of other people to use him as a vehicle for their own gain.
The man has some ability to manipulate other stupid people, but he is in fact a STUPID man. Little impulse control and no real idea of how to be effective in anything. He has been propped up by the people around him his entire life.
He has been able to remain relatively unscathed in his life because he was operating in the parameters his money allowed him to. Getting himself into the White House was the worst thing for him. Much too deep water for a man of his abilities to swim in. We are seeing the results of Trump's limitations. If he had stayed out of office, he would have been remembered as a celebrity in the 1980's who portrayed himself as a real estate mogul, had a resurgence of his notoriety in the 2000's with a television show, and had several failed business attempts.
Now, he will be remembered as one of, if not the worst president in US history, the most corrupt person to ever hold such office, and generally a scumbag who almost tore the United States apart.

This seems more like the international mobsters attempting to take control of America's government, in my opinion.
It is much more serious than the Mafia we have known in the past.

(78,392 posts)It is true that in the good old days, the mafia had strict rules of conduct. They were restricted to who they could kill. I remember when I was a kid, listening at my bedroom door as the adults talked, one of my uncles -- a legendary investigator -- saying to my father, "We don't care so much when they kill one another. But it gets serious when they kill human beings." Another thing was the code of honor that prevented someone facing years in prison from turning on others in hopes of a reduced sentence.
"Organized crime" today is different. It is not the classic "family business" of the past, or mafia movies. It includes gangs and cartels. In a very real sense, Trump is an example of the lowest of low-lifes in organized crime.

(7,493 posts)He is more the 'burn the whole place down!' end-of-time nutcase.
Trump is hoping his followers will rise up in their millions and destroy everything.
That way he can sit on the ashes and know his crimes are buried under there.
Trump wants to rise from the ashes. Phoenix style.
But those 'millions of followers' - how many of them are there in reality, how many are prepared to go all the way to a civil war, and how many are thinking . . . nope, not playing that scenario, it is one bridge too far!
Inquiring minds want to know!
One thing is for sure. Trump has declared war on America, and needs to be stopped, and soon.
Legally or otherwise. I no longer care how.
