I actually spend more on bleach each month than gas (pool owner). Don't get me started on the bleach cartel (I assume there is one as well?)

Next week it will be back under $3.00

That's really all the excuse the gasoline industry needs to crank up prices.
I think they do their books under LIFO rules rather than FIFO rules, LIFO is last price in, is the first price out. That allows the company to be able to continue to purchase the goods they sell.
So any hint of price increase or short supply shows up almost immediately in the retail price.
