(23,179 posts)they don't give a rat's ass about who gets guns or who they kill with the guns, as long as they have an army they don't arm, don't pay, don't support, don't train, don't maintain, yet will go where the fascists r's tell them to mass. The bodies littering the schools, streets, and every aspect of American life are steppingstones to their fascist dystopia.

(296,156 posts)Statement from President Joe Biden on Expulsion of Tennessee Lawmakers for Acting on Gun Safety
HOME
BRIEFING ROOM
STATEMENTS AND RELEASES
Last week, three more students and three school officials were gunned down in yet another tragic mass shooting in Nashville. On Monday, 7,000 Tennesseans, many of them students, marched to their state capitol to call on their lawmakers to take action and keep them safe.
Instead, state Republican lawmakers called votes today to expel three Democratic legislators who stood in solidarity with students and families and helped lift their voices. Todays expulsion of lawmakers who engaged in peaceful protest is shocking, undemocratic, and without precedent. Rather than debating the merits of the issue, these Republican lawmakers have chosen to punish, silence, and expel duly-elected representatives of the people of Tennessee.
A strong majority of Americans want lawmakers to act on commonsense gun safety reforms that we know will save lives. But instead, weve continued to see Republican officials across America double down on dangerous bills that make our schools, places of worship, and communities less safe. Our kids continue to pay the price.
Congress must ban assault weapons and high capacity magazines, require safe storage of firearms, eliminate gun manufacturers immunity from liability, and require background checks for all gun sales, and state officials must do the same.

(9,354 posts)I ran across an artocle this after noon about a legislator - I think at the state level but will not swear to it, and it might have been Georgia, but I won't swear to that either - I cannot remember his last name but I think his first name was Francis - who was removed in a similar situation - the legislature chose to violate his First Amendment rights, and he was lack - He sueed and too his case all the way to the Supremem court before he got a judgment in his favor. But, in the interim, two special elections had been held in his district to replace him, and he won both of them. I can't find it with Google and cannot remember where I saw it.
