THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS FOR KEV!
Democrats are digging in their heels on debt ceiling and budget talks amid reports that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) is struggling to wrangle his unwieldy conference.
Why it matters: Time is running out for Congress and the White House to agree on a budget and increase the government's debt ceiling to avert a potentially catastrophic default this summer.
Driving the news: The New York Times reported on Thursday that McCarthy has expressed distrust in two of his top lieutenants in the House, Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) and Budget Committee chair Jodey Arrington (R-Texas).
What we're hearing: The report has reassured Democrats that the Biden administration's refusal to move forward with talks before McCarthy releases a GOP budget outline is the correct approach.

(4,741 posts)The traitor party barely got the votes to make him speaker after, what, 15 tries? It'll be just as tough to have them get the votes to remove him, too. I don't think they have the energy or the patience to go 15 rounds over him again--for any reason.
We need to remember that the only thing that unites the traitor party these days is owning the libs and further enriching the already rich. Anything else, and they're in utter chaos.
McCarthy isn't the brightest guy out there, but he understood that if he could get the votes from party in disarray, he'd most likely have the speaker job. I expect him to be speaker until he hands the gavel to Hakeem Jeffries on 3 January 2025 (a girl can dream).
I don't know if he'll get the job again if the Rs hold the house in 2024, but I will say that the vote then will be as contentious as that of 2023, and as hard to overturn until the next Congress is sworn in.
This is what happens when your party is falling apart.

All of the concessions that Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) made in his desperate bid to become House Speaker are coming back to haunt him as his caucus can't seem to get on the same page and now he is starting to point fingers at his deputies for their failings -- many of which are his fault.

McCarthy faces GOP blowback after N.Y. Times leak
Some angry GOP lawmakers warn that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's position could be on rocky ground after a report he blamed members of his leadership team for Republicans' chaos over the budget.
Why it matters: Multiple House Republicans argued McCarthys criticism of Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) and Budget Chair Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) undermines their messaging and opens the floodgates for public infighting earlier than necessary.

They all suffer from delusions of adequacy.
