13 year old driving stolen SUV kills 1, injures 10

WOODLAND, Calif. — The Woodland Police Department said a woman died in a crash on Saturday caused by a teen driver in a stolen vehicle attempting to evade police.

"An officer was working in the area, when he observed a vehicle driving erratically," said Sgt. Victoria Danzl, of the Woodland Police. Danzl said the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but that the driver — identified by police as a 13-year-old — took off, driving erratically, which began a brief pursuit. Danzl said the driver was traveling northbound on College Street when he entered the intersection around 4:27 p.m.

At least 10 people were injured and transported to the hospital. The extent of those injuries was still being assessed late Saturday, Woodland police said. Police told KCRA 3's Lee Anne Denyer, in all, three minors were hurt, including a 3-year-old who was transported by air for care.

1. Kids are misbehaving a lot lately. Criminal type behavior seems to be rising.

I’m not so sure I agree anymore with keeping their name out of the press. Maybe the embarrassment will show other children not to do this type of activity. Something needs to be done. Stealing a vehicle at 13????

4. The Florida burglary executions story is wild

Group of six teenagers apparently all stealing together. Then three of them decide they don't want accomplices/witnesses anymore and execute the other three.

One of the alleged murderers is 12 years old.

It's . . . a lot.

Not a lawyer, but...

California juvenile justice is confidential and records are eventually sealed.

Even vehicluar homicide is up to prosecutor's descretion whether to charge
as a felony or misdemeanor. This 13-year-old's fate is not a done deal.

11. Maybe. Probably not. The woman who raised me was murdered by a 14 year old . . .

He and his 16 year old accomplice dragged her from her car in a busy Los Angeles intersection, pistol whipped her to the ground, then put two slugs through her left eye.

He was released when he turned 18.

That was 50 years ago this August.

Have to deal with that for the rest of his/her life. Sad for those that died, sad for the person that created to situation.

Any convictions will probably be sealed so no one ever knows. Wonder if he already has a lengthy record?
