The 'QAnon Shaman' @his halfway house now rocking a "freedom t-shirt."
Jacob Chansley, who received one of the longest sentences handed down to a U.S. Capitol rioter, has been released early from federal prison and sent to a reentry center.
Chansley, 35, was convicted of obstruction of an official proceeding in Nov. 2021 and sentenced to 41 months in prison. But prison records show that Chansley has been moved to a residential reentry management facility in Phoenix, where he is originally from, and is expected to be released on May 25.
Chansley received an early release, in part, because of his good behavior while in prison, says Albert Watkins, who represented Chansley through his plea and sentencing.

Chansley, also known as QAnon Shaman, became a notorious face for the Jan. 6 attack after storming into the Capitol bare-chested in a fur headdress with horns. According to the Justice Department, Chansley was among the first 30 rioters to breach the government building.

(70,588 posts).... Constitutional Democracy through violence. It looks like he spent his time in the joint
lifting and working out but he looks like "a nice guy." Do I need to add this?

(33,400 posts)I'm sure he has some super important insights on nearly every topic.

(65,195 posts)He was arraigned on Jan 11, 2021. He was remanded to jail awaiting trial. So, he's been in jail 27 months & doesn't go to halfway for a month.
So, 28 months in the slammer.
It's not exactly a slap on the wrist. I hate to come off lime I'm defending him, but he's going to give up 3 years of freedom & wasn't accused of a violent crime. His life is likely ruined and he deserves that.
But, I'm not sure a longer sentence would have achieved more justice.

(73,622 posts)how law enforcement identified him? (grin)

(65,195 posts)And, he was in the navy so they probably have his prints, and he touched a hundred things, on video, while he was in there.
What kind of dope makes their political statement in such a ridiculous way? He expected to be taken seriously?

(73,622 posts)And I say that, not to insult him, but rather in full agreement with your saying he paid an adequate price for his actions that day. He was one of the more easily identified obnoxious ones, but not to be confused for one of the dangerous ones.

(70,588 posts)I see him cashing in big time on "his struggles" against the liberals and their "woke agenda" giving
talks to the rubes. Get you picture taken with the "QAnon Shaman" and hear his speech for $100.
I hope part of his shorten sentence is from him giving up what he knows about the "Coup Birds."
ProfessorGAC
(65,195 posts)Either way it's 26 months in the slammer.
I would hope a condition of early release was to NOT do what you worry about. (I share that concern.)
He was supposedly remorseful at his trial. Going on the attack would be the antithesis of remorse.

(70,588 posts)It had to do with solar flares and winds, electromagnetic pulses, and deep space science
missions. But if that doesn't work out my brother just retired from our "eyes in the sky"
satellite program for the D.O.D. so he could try that one. No doubt Q-Horns has the needed
education and security clearances.
