"SNIP.......

“After Dianne Feinstein announced she’d contracted the shingles in early March, her staff said she planned to return to the Senate within a matter of weeks,” Politico reports.

“But multiple Democrats close to her, as well as top-ranking congressional aides, are growing increasingly concerned that she may never come back to Washington at all.”

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) tweets: “It’s time for Sen. Feinstein to resign. We need to put the country ahead of personal loyalty. While she has had a lifetime of public service, it is obvious she can no longer fulfill her duties. Not speaking out undermines our credibility as elected representatives of the people.”

Her absence is creating a backlog that we desperately need to clear. Schumer can remove her from the Judiciary Committee and put a different Dem in her seat so work can get done.

The senate works differently than the house.

She would have to resign, then a replacement appointed, and then the new senator appointed to their committees. Normally, the whole senate has to vote to adopt the rules and committee appointments, but I don’t know how it works when an interim senator is sworn in.

It is not directly tied to the organizing resolution.

Blocking a new member of the judiciary committee would block Biden’s nominees for the rest of his term.

Unfortunately, Dems don’t have enough votes to kill the filibuster.

DiFi is a Democratic legend. And yes, she should retire. With dignity, not with this kind of disdain. Can we not respect someone of her stature?

was used up decades ago, when I sent her a letter politely asking her to join a filibuster and got back a response that can be summed up as "Back off, Sonny! I'm a Senator. I know more that you do."

In a perfect world, she should retire with dignity at this point. Since there are several excellent candidates waiting to take over her seat, Governor Newsom should appoint a placeholder to finish her term, which ends next year. If I had the choice, I would ask Barbara Boxer to come out of retirement for the next twenty months. I always thought between Boxer and Feinstein, the wrong one retired.

...it just makes it up, creating yet another rumor.

She was hospitalized with shingles and is recovering at home.

There is no official or even any unofficial report that she's not returning to the Senate, despite this rumor on top of rumor.

Asshole behavior from Khanna and the rest who are hounding the ailing Senator.
Other Senators have taken ill and not been subjected to this assholery.
