NEW from Feinstein
I understand that my absence could delay the important work of the Judiciary Committee, so Ive asked Leader Schumer to ask the Senate to allow another Democratic senator to temporarily serve until Im able to resume my committee work.

Feinstein on returning to Washington
I intend to return as soon as possible once my medical team advises that its safe for me to travel. In the meantime, I remain committed to the job and will continue to work from home in San Francisco.

(71,542 posts)the office then fine but if we can't then she must resign. I still think she needs to resign. I don't like being down a Senator when we will have a possible contested election in 24.

But I fear that it isn't - for many people.

(23,234 posts)Italics are mine.
So, even if DiFi were to resign, her replacement on the judiciary committee would have to be approved by the whole senate, meaning 60 senators, including at least 9 Republicans, would have to vote for her replacement on the committee.
So, unless/until DiFi recovers and can fulfill her duties on the judiciary committee, it appears the republicans can block confirmation of Bidens nominees for the rest of his term.
Wishful-Thinking
(111 posts)I told them I wouldnt donate again until they intervened with Diane Feinstein to have her resign from Judiciary so we could get judges appointed. Im not so vain to think this mattered much, but was told others said the same thing. So money talks as we all know I like Feinstein but her time of contribution has passed. Let someone like Schiff or Porter take the seat and run as an incumbent!

(71,542 posts)we can't allow the GOP to fill those vacancies...this is bigger than the feelings of one person. She needs to resign. The sooner the better.

(3,138 posts)Come on Dems don't fuck up again. You let Franken go for no reason but keep someone who should have left years ago. "Safe to travel...work from home..." is that really what we need?
