Parler Shut Down by New Owner

Link:
https://variety.com/2023/digital/news/parler-shut-down-new-owner-starboard-twitter-clone-conservatives-1235583709/

Quotes from the article:
Parler, the self-described “uncancelable free-speech social platform” that catered to right-wing users — which was nearly acquired by Kanye West last year — has been shut down by its new owner.

“No reasonable person believes that a Twitter clone just for conservatives is a viable business any more,” Arlington, Va.-based digital media company Starboard said in announcing Friday that it had acquired Parler...

"Instead of continuing to offer Parler as a consumer-facing social service, Starboard said it would leverage Parler’s assets across its existing businesses as well as provide information-technology services to customers in “marginalized or even outright censored communities – even extending beyond domestic politics.” Starboard said the Parler acquisition gives it an opportunity to “begin servicing unsupported online communities – building a home for them away from the ad-hoc regulatory hand of platforms that hate them.”

“No reasonable person believes that a Twitter clone just for conservatives is a viable business any more.”

The rest is just office babble for we’re going to break it up and hand out the pieces to our other departments.

7. Repeat after me, Parler executives: it's still the free market even when you don't like the results.

It's not an "ad-hoc regulatory hand"...you just got bitch-slapped by the invisible hand of the free market!

No one owes you a platform, including the ISPs you use to get your "business" on Teh Interwebz. The far right, including Parler, is being "canceled" because you're too much of a liability: massacres, death threats, "swatting", etc. If you fools want to blame anyone, blame the insurance company bookies that crunch the numbers on this stuff so that they know what's too hot to handle.

9. Parler was never meant to be a viable going concern. It was another Candace Owens grift

intended to be sold onward to some greater fool. (I'm looking at you, Ye.)

New owner bought it for it's parts, another day in business.
