(7,019 posts)I think it was in Rolling Stone. I couldn't finish it. I just got the sense that he was full of shit and full of himself.
I read the article because I wanted to see what the buzz was all about him. I had never heard of him and, ever since, he has lived up to my first impression.

(82,849 posts)Yes, like revealing intelligence sources and penetration, harming our national security posture and exposing the identity of operatives to hostile governments. I'm confident that some information is over-classified, but there is a good reason for keeping our intelligence doings secret even from our allies, and it's not the purview of a "lonely, gun-obsessed leaker" to publish that information.
So, is Taibbi just playing the imbecile or has he decided the price of his soul and taken the offer?

(58,785 posts)anti- U.S. government-oppression themes, Chris Hedges and Noam Chomsky (et swarms) can blame both his racism and his doomed, inevitable birth-to-prison trajectory on capitalism. Ellsberg and his crowd of course for the nobility of his endangering himself to expose anything government.
What else? Whatever, it's all in the works. Foundations for future lucrative career as a freedom fighter personality being laid as we watch.
Oh, demonstrators! He'll need crowds on the sidewalks loudly demanding his release.

(101,336 posts)Teixeira's defense is going to consist of "I never thought this was serious stuff, it was just cool shit I wanted to impress friends with". By Greenwald, Greene and others are trying to call him a journalist or whistleblower (although he leaked it all in a place where it had very limited visibility). They are claiming he had anti-state reasons to do it, which will, if accepted, increase his sentence.

My sisters late husband had art of the deal book. When I was helped her downside after he passed we had great fun destroying the book and putting it in the recycle bin. It was so carthartic!
