Out Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) just signed three bills supporting health care rights in the state, including one that makes the state a safe haven for those seeking abortions or gender-affirming health care, and one elected official from the state Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-CO) is not enjoying hearing about it.
It is a complete disgrace, she tweeted about the bills.
On Friday, Polis signed a bill that ensures that people even people who live in other states can get legal health care like abortions and gender-affirming care in Colorado without getting prosecuted in their home states, shielding health care providers and patients from interstate investigations.
We celebrate freedom, Polis said in a statement. Today is really about freedom, standing up to protect freedoms that are under attack, sadly, in many other states across the country.

(11,767 posts)I thought that right wingers loved State's Rights?
Kidding. They love when states do exactly what they want to be done.
The tension between the Several States and the National government should favor the laws that provide the most protections to the most people. That is the way that Federalism has been conceived and discussed. Allowing women and pregnant people to obtain safe healthcare DOES NOT take anything away from other people, except their desire to control those bodies and dictate their own moralism on those people. Allowing trans people the human dignity of expressing their authentic selves is not the government "interfering" or dictating anything to anyone, it is simply protecting those people from being interfered with in the process of getting the help they need to be themselves.
This is all in how Conservatives see the world. They literally believe that stopping them from oppressing people they do not like is oppression against them.

Otherwise, they're being persecuted and states' rights don't come into it. See: abortion, legal cannabis.
