The father of a 16-year-old Kansas City student who was shot Thursday in the Northland said his son, Ralph Yarl, is home from the hospital.

Paul Yarl on Monday morning told The Star that Ralph, a junior at Staley High School, was released from the hospital on Sunday.

He is now back home with his mother, a nurse, who is taking off time from work to care for her son, Yarl said.

“He continues to improve. He’s responsive and he’s making good progress,” Yarl said.

Ralph spent three nights in the hospital after he was shot after going to the wrong home to pick up his younger brothers, who are twins, family said.

Must have been superficial wounds for him to be home this quickly.

I’m on record that Rittenhouse eats a bullet sometime in his fifties.

Dunno how old this guy is who shot a 16 year old boy, but I guarantee eventually he will begin to have some sleepless nights over this. Might be already. Maybe eventually having the same end as Rittenhouse.

Human nature is immutable. No matter how much of a soulless individual one may seem to be, time will take its toll. Rittenhouse took two, and this ass in AL took one, and this is an event that ultimately, they will not be able to escape.

Crime & Punishment.

My guess is that he spent the last 5 years praying to gawd to give him an excuse to shoot someone - and now he's happier than a pig in shit.

That could just be my cynicism, but I also saw a guy get his gun out of his glovebox to shop at Walmart yesterday.

And that's the sick cycle we're in, right there in a nutshell.

People who have guns (but shouldn't) use them to shoot up a Wal-mart. Everyone else is afraid of being in Wal-mart when that person starts shooting, so they take guns with them for protection when they go shopping at Wal-mart.

Sometimes that second group, the ones taking the guns out for "protection" if someone else starts shooting, get into arguments or confrontations and, in the heat of the moment or perceiving a threat, they pull out their gun and start shooting up the Wal-mart.

Round and round we go.

Odds are pretty slim you can outrun a bullet.

The ubiquity of guns has us trapped in this cycle we can't break out of. We all know someone can start popping off rounds anytime, anywhere, for any reason or no reason at all. So some people arm up thinking that'll protect them. Odds are pretty slim there, too. But then when that moment of stress/confrontation arrives, their gun is right there, a simple and direct solution to whatever problem they perceive they have.

It sucks. It really, really sucks. I was recently in Arizona visiting family, and I really didn't like that almost-subconscious feeling of, "Shit might pop off at any second, so better keep a mental map of the nearest exits and hiding places." It was exhausting.

well off black and Asian families up there. But I'm so glad he's home and safe. He's a top.student so he can go to a really good school.

I seem to remember some racial thing happened at Staley High School awhile back. But schools in this district come down really hard on any racist trouble.

Ralph Yarl appears to be the victim, by all accounts, but I'm sure the prosecutor wants to get statements and follow up statements to show consistency.

If the shooter gives a statement, and it keeps changing, that looks really bad for the shooter.

The man who shot him...... how do you see this kid's face and think it's a threat? Ugh. Hope he spends the rest of his life in prison.
