Max De Pree is an icon. His books on leadership sit on the shelves of every business person in the country. Herman Miller was an incredibly innovative and socially conscious company for decades.

I am here in West Michigan, the Herman Miller culture was considered the ideal corporate culture for generations. Just shocking that this absolute ghoul is the leader of that company. I am absolutely outraged and intend to send this to the local media, it's beyond the pale.

My guess here is that they want to do a layoff, but don't want to pay severance. So they withhold the bonus, piss off a big chunk of staff who will now take a job elsewhere.
