...but Andi Owen took home nearly $5mil herself, including a $1.2mil bonus in 2022.
By Ed Scarce April 18, 2023
Nothing quite says corporate greed (and unmitigated gall) like a CEO (in this case, Andi Owen of office furniture giant MillerKnoll) laying into greedy employees who asked about their missing bonuses on a Zoom call.
You can visit pity city, but you cant live there. So people, leave pity city. Lets get it done, she said before wishing people a great day.

The CEO of an office furniture giant lambasted employees in a March town hall that has since circulated online, telling them to leave pity city after she was asked about bonuses during a difficult moment for the company and the broader industry.

(23,693 posts)And she made almost $5M last year.
This is in my area and I am appalled. More news sites are picking this up, I hope it spreads far and wide and she is forced out. Just pure evil to talk to working people like this when you're making $millions and the company's performance is tied to your poor leadership a lot more than the worker's work ethic (which is great actually).

Of course, the executive boards try to keep their bonuses secret from the employees.

(3,161 posts)...and white-collar workplaces in general, are selecting for disordered personalities and even psychopaths, particularly when it comes to "leadership". How many times have we seen this kind of thing in the news? I've lost count. Even the politicians get in on the game. Remember Mitt Romney getting caught on a hidden microphone making his snide little remark about the "47% takers"? And Romney is supposed to be one of the nice, respectable, moderate Republicans!
These people need to be a lot more careful where they speak this kind of garbage. At this point, they're just asking for it.

(79,854 posts)America believes that crooks, liars, thieves, cheats, murderers are to be admired.
Those of us with a moral compass who do the right thing and follow the law are suckers and losers.
Even the wholesale slaughter of schoolchildren and adults is met with indifference in our society.
Or Americans being treated like sub-humans.
Yes certain professional schools seem to promote this.
But I think that many professions bear some responsibility.
Law, business, education, and even my field, psychology.
If Americans had any shame they would hang their heads.

She probably thinks she's still a good person because she listens to NPR occasionally.

(53,345 posts)$6.4 million / 8,000 employees = $800 per employee
I can GUARANTEE you that that $800 would be much more beneficial to all 8,000 employees than $6.4 million to one arrogant, narcissistic CEO

(23,693 posts)I just cannot imagine treating workers like this when you're making $millions.
When this broke yesterday, I retweeted the video and tagged a couple local news stations, one of them ran an article about it this afternoon.
