I'm not a lawyer so I have to ask:

Is there any kind of class action that can be taken against FOX for its lies?

My family has been torn apart and damaged by them. Our democracy has been harmed. They have truly helped to weaken this country.

by them. It's hard to believe no penalty can be exacted for all the freaking "pain and suffering" they've put the country through.

Though, I understand Dominion has direct damage done to them through these lies. They are literally losing business and getting replaced by some republican districts due to their lies.

Our damages are more emotional and not direct monetary sums that Dominion has.

Dominion can probably make a solid case that they have lost N dollars where N is a firm number in business they would have gotten had Fox not libeled them. How do you calculate the value of not speaking to your own parents or children though? How do you quantify the fact that you are afraid to put a bumper sticker on your car because it might be keyed or rammed by some asshole if you do? Juries can do this but it's iffy and if they go too high the court often overrides them.

And there is the fact that lying is protected speech in America unless you can prove both damages and actual malice. The Founders didn't want us to be like Britain where the powerful can harass their critics by accusing libel even when their critics can prove they are telling the truth. So they intended speech to be very free, so that the marketplace of ideas could be rich and vibrant. And that means if you are free to tell your story, so is the other guy you are sure is an asshole.

Let's think about this. There are thousands of lawyers who work in class-action-qualified law firms who are aware that Fox and Murdoch have a shit-ton of money.

However, they are all too lazy to come up with a way to get at it.

Either that or they know something we don't.

Typically monetary damage or the threat thereof.

I don't know how that can be compressed into a class action per se.

All members of the class have to show a specific injury and it has to be common to all of the members. Lying, in general, is considered to be protected speech (United States v. Alvarez) unless the lie is defamatory toward someone in particular.

It would be fun to sue those with opposing views … hopefully criminally with the death penalty. At least re-education camps.

and the plaintiffs would have to prove damages, something that will take weeks, if not months.

HOWEVER, I can see several states, especially AZ, NV, PA, GA, and a couple of others suing on behalf of its election workers, top to bottom, for the years of death threats and other horrors just for doing their jobs because of lies from TFG backed up by Pox, OAN, and Newsmax. The trial would continue for months and cost the defendants an enormous amount in lawyer fees as day after day, election workers would detail things like death threats, having to move and change the schools the kids went to because of intense bullying, having to change phone numbers because of the death threats, having their jobs threatened, and so forth. It's been established it was all due to a BIG FAT LIE issued by a BIG FAT CROOK over BIG FAT FAKE NEWS CHANNELS.

Fox News is a product I have purchased as part of my cable television package. This product has been manufactured in an intentionally defective way, making it worthless for the purpose for which it was purchased. I, and every other consumer in the same boat, can calculate exactly how much money they have wasted on this defective product. As a class, we demand our money be returned.

Were you directly attacked? No.

Were you deprived of democracy? No.

Your family situation isn't actionable, and ever if it was, you'd have to prove specifically that their (presumed) pro-Trump opinions derived from Fox.
