TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A man was booked into the Shawnee County Jail following a disturbance early Monday at a convenience store and gas station on the city’s west side, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 4:15 a.m. Tuesday at the Kwik Shop at 2520 S.W. 6th Ave. The store is located on the northwest corner of S.W. 6th and MacVicar avenues.

The arrested man was identified as David Dustin Cain, 43, of Topeka. Authorities said a man who was inside the store was causing a disturbance, prompting police to respond to the scene.

Upon their arrival, officers found the man at the back of the store throwing items, said police Lt. Manny Munoz. One of the items struck a police officer as he walked in the door.
