Fox News will likely try to recoup the $787 million settlement by negotiating higher carriage fees with cable providers.
Those providers will then pass the extra costs to you by increasing your monthly bill, even if you never watch Fox News

(2,496 posts)why anyone pays for it. When I travel and stay at a hotel Ill turn on msnbc, and I cant believe the amount of advertising on a subscription platform. It has to be at least twice what we had in the 60s and 70s on network TV. You can subscribe to several streaming services like HBO and Netflix for the same cost. You can watch the best clips of msnbc on YouTube. I seriously dont know why people pay good money to have a fire hose of obnoxious commercial content projectile vomiting into their home.

(8,727 posts)But cable is required for certain content like Soccer.
Bad thing for me is that we watch a lot of soccer but to get just 75% of the games we want requires:
Apple TV+
Peacock
Paramount+
ESPN+
Cable TV
HBOMax
We don't have it but the rest we are missing can only be watched on Fubu.
It's a cluster fuck and sometimes very frustrating trying to figure out where a game is being broadcast.

(21,592 posts)Link has Fox News financials but basically the $800 M is only 28% of their profit from last year. IE not at all harmful to their company. There is little sense risking their business model by alienating cable companies. That could hurt their bottom line much more than the lawsuit settlement.
