Nebraska Republican: Abortion Ban Needed to Ensure Dominance of White Population

As lawmakers in the Nebraska legislature debated and advanced a near-total abortion ban last week, one Republican took to the floor and delivered an argument undergirded by a white supremacist conspiracy theory in support of the ban.

In a speech last Wednesday, Republican State Sen. Steve Erdman said that an abortion ban is necessary because there are too many of “those foreigners” and “refugees” in the state — coded language for non-white people.

“Our state population has not grown except by those foreigners who have moved here or refugees who have been placed here,” he said, adding his untrue and racist claim about a lack of population growth among white people due to abortion. Video of his arguments was posted online by Heartland Signal.

Erdman also said that the absence of an abortion ban in the state, where the procedure is currently banned after 21 weeks and six days, is part of what’s fueling a labor shortage in the state, revealing what Republicans view as the value of their constituents. The aborted fetuses are “people that could be working and filling some of those positions that we have vacancies,” he said. (Republicans’ arguments about a labor shortage are also untrue — Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows that unemployment is lower in Nebraska than it has been in the past decade.)

The Republican’s argument invokes white nationalists’ “great replacement theory,” a conspiracy theory that global elites are trying to replace white people with people of color. It is a completely debunked idea that has nonetheless gained hold among the right and the Republican Party, especially as it has been used to supposedly justify antisemitic and racist violence.

Hardly anyone else wants to live there, but there is economic opportunity. There aren’t very many interesting jobs and the ones that are out there are things like potato picking.

Their justice system is corrupt from the state Supreme Court on down. It’s one of those closed, cozy systems, like what you saw with Alex Murdaughs family. They have a unicameral, so there are not a lot of checks and balances.

Over the past 5,000 years or so of human history, the average empire lasts, in terms of duration, around 250 years or so.

The United States, in its current Constitutional form, turns 250 years of age in 2039. Barring some truly massive paradigm shifts that are cohesive (as opposed to atomising) in nature, I doubt the Union of the States makes it to its 250th birthday in its current manifestation.

The SCOTUS is a very likely instrument of government that will light the fuse on the powderkeg of Union disintegration. For instance, if they declare foetal personhood to be the law of the land, thus outlawing nationally almost all abortions, many Blue States will go into open defiance.

This is an instant and truly massive inflection point.

If a Rethug (or less likely, a Dem one) POTUS orders them to comply and uses force, there will be kinetic action and instant Blue State secessionist movements.

If the POTUS doesn't try and bring the Blue States to heel, then the Red States will very likely simply start to ignore previous SCOTUS decisions THEY disagree with. Chaos and kinetic violence also very likely ensues.

That is one of my principal theories of the case as to one of the many inherent systemic dangers we face due to long wave Constitutional flaws, most of them ticking time bombs two centuries plus in the making.

white Nebraskans don't want to do? How the hell is it's economy going to survive if those jobs that most whites don't want to do aren't filled — with non-white people, who have babies to help in the field?

Dominate that, bozo. How do these fools run a state?

They don’t tell their white voters that they will drive them into working those jobs for shit pay. They ARE racist, but even above that they are also classist and will subject whoever they can to service their greed. Thats what these poor white racist voters don’t realize.
