Donald Trump is pounding on him like a bass drum. Donors are running away. And most mainstream Americans are either confused by or put off by his constant culture-warring.
See, your average American doesnt believe Mickey and Minnie are trying to turn preschoolers gay or that the Main Street Electrical Parade is a covert Pride operation. Theyre not obsessed with drag queens. And theyre not keen on book bans.
Over the weekend, Republican megadonor Thomas Peterffy told the Financial Times he was reconsidering his support for DeSantis saying: I have put myself on hold. Because of his stance on abortion and book banning ... myself, and a bunch of friends, are holding our powder dry.
See, DeSantis was billed as a less chaotic version of Donald Trump. Instead, he declared thermonuclear war on a cartoon mouse.

Corrupt bargains with insurance companies making home property insurance skyrocket. Legislation in work to make it nearly impossible to sue insurance companies for fraud, denial of claims etc.
Thats just the top of the barrel.

(5,138 posts)(I wonder what will happen once the state becomes 'non-viable' because of complete mismanagement due to those in power being far too busy trying to prove they are gods as opposed to being representatives of their respective areas? Can we do to them what they have been doing to everyone that they don't like?)

(18,837 posts)There are literally only four things that motivate Trump:
1). What he can eat
2). Who he can have sex with
3). What he can deposit in the bank
4). A pathological, consistent need for praise and worship
DeSantis, on the other hand...enabled by his crazy fundie wife and her "On the eighth day, God made a mighty warrior named Ron" video, sees himself as some kind of culture war standard bearer / crusader.
Trump is a predator who has no motivation beyond hedonism and soothing his fragile, needy ego.
DeSantis thinks he's "right" and no one has stopped him, so he will keep doing what he's doing, as long as he thinks he's saving the world from gay wokeness or whatever the hell he's calling it today.

The problem for him is that much of the rest of the US isnt The Villages, and I doubt he inspires the cult worship that Trump enjoys with his uneducated, intolerant MAGAs.

(22,038 posts)His political moves don't show any real insights. He's a thug who is drunk on his power as governor.
Like many drunks, he's starting to see the limits to his abilities. The governor of Florida doesn't rule the country and I'll be amazed if DeSantis even makes it to the Republican primaries.

(15,545 posts)I have yet to see any proof that DeSantis is "smart". That's a meme that needs to go away. Maybe compared to the orange ignoramus he's smart, but so is my pet parakeet when compared to him.
Your pet parakeet made me laugh!
So Trump is less than a bird brain?!

(18,837 posts)"On the eighth day, God created Ron"...as disturbing as it gets, but it's no worse than Mike Pence in college, convinced that Jesus himself told him "one day you'll be president."

(853 posts)looking at the wikipedia page of Disney Movies since their beginning, I think Disney has the best (and more than maybe DeSadness and Florida) money, also.
Holy crap! That's a lot of potential legal monetary defense for one studio.
Wonder if DeSadness banned history of Custer?
