I believe that Putin groomed Trump to do exactly as he did.

Think of the harm Trump did in 4 years to our democracy. If Trump had won another 4 years he would be our dictator.

Trump winning would not have happened without Putins help, and the insurrection is ongoing.

I'm not sure if that's what you meant, but that's what the term "grooming" implies to me.

The election denial was 100% in keeping with Trump's malignant narcissism. I can see Putin encouraging him, but I'd be very surprised if the idea didn’t originate with Trump himself. (Again, if that's what you meant.)

The plan is/was and will always be to fund raise off the suckers. His running for president is the only thing he's ever done outside that TV show (where everything was done for him) that actually made money instead of debt. He's raking it in and continues to rake it in from these suckers.

The fact that he's been drawn into the delusion or not, is always been open to debate. He is at heart a con-artist and an egomaniac.

Trump's callous disregard for human life, downplaying a global pandemic/shoving aside career epidemiologists, scientists, doctors in favor of quack and shamans/300,000 covid deaths/Trump fatigue...

months before the election Barr was busy trashing voting by mail and early voting, Trump was screaming rigged election/never concede at his Nazi rallies, DeJoy was slowing down the mail, and election officials were eliminating in-person voting locations...

on the night of the election, when the early count temporarily favored Trump, he declared victory and assumed the vote count would stop..except the vote count continued and Biden won..here's the rub...Trump's rigged election did not stayed rigged, and in Trump's conniving conman toxic-dump of a mind that meant Biden and the Democrats "outrigged" Trump's rigged election..and that's why Trump will never accept he lost...

You know - you just KNOW - that if the orange prick would have told his followers, "you know how you guys dream of SHTF? It's happened. Go to ground for a couple weeks, wear N95 masks, get vaccinated when we have a vaccine, and we'll defeat this bastard," his minions would have done it. The problem is, he couldn't have made huge profits by selling America's PPE overseas.

The damage to this country and others done by GWB and TFG will take years to remedy if ever. So sad. Now we must hope, pray, work and vote our tails off, to prevent another despot from getting in there again.

While this settlement is not the trivial amount some suggest, it's not enough to bankrupt them.
They made about $2.2 billion in net income, EBITA, (Earnings Before Interest Taxes & Amortization).
This settlement is over 1/3rd of last years net income.
That's big, but still leaves them $1.4 billion in net income.
That's hardly bankruptcy territory.

A drop in the bucket compared to the trillions of dollars they shift towards the wealthy. Liberals are out celebrating this victory against the right-wing lie machine, but if you look at it from their perspective, it wasn't even a billion dollars and they still get to keep their audience of low-information type drones captivated with their ongoing propaganda lie machine.

This won't stop them! This just empowers them to get meaner, see where they slipped up and rig the system, closing the loopholes. Fox Noise and the QOP are snickering at us this morning. It was a worthwhile investment on their behalf, one that pays huge dividends.

I don't think it is "all because one man couldn't admit he lost" though. That one man felt entitled to our nation in the first place. He has always gotten whatever he wanted one way or another and he has minions (legal, criminal, financial) who are all tied to him, his family and his endeavors who do all the heavy lifting. They make his whims real. He had no intention of leaving the office of POTUS once he added it to his crown jewels and would have stripped it of all value, sold it to foreign interests or oligarchs, and become a despot who would revel in his titles and power. To hell with all the people he used in his day to day ego fests. MAGAts are all schmucks to him.

And let's not forget that Chump knew he was going to lose the 2020 election well before it took place. Many of the "Stop the Steal" preparations were made in the summer before the election. Why? Because he knew he would lose to Joe Biden in November 2020.

For us it was like watching a slow-motion train wreck, with disastrous consequences in all directions.

His underlings all knew.

Now let's look at Worthless Fuck's track record. You know how back in the day kings would execute their underlings for bringing them news he didn't want to hear? If Trump could get away with he'd be a head-chopping motherfucker. We don't do that shit anymore, so Trump does the next best thing - he'll ruin your life just on general principles. You lose your job, you're shunned by the rest of the civilized world and you wind up on OANN with a quarter-inch-thick coat of house paint on your face because you can't get any other work. Naturally, you want to avoid that at all costs if for no other reason than house paint isn't comfortable to wear. So you walk on tippy-toes around Trump so he doesn't fire you by tweet in the middle of the night.

I really don't think anyone had the courage to tell him, "sir, you need to prepare for your post-presidency life."

The expectations some had about the results of a trial that was never going to happen are incredibly unrealistic.

Their viewers don't care and the rest of us already know they lie.

The intent of the suit was to recover damages for loss of reputation. Dominion clearly feels that that was accomplished.

Expecting them to ignore a massive settlement (nearly 10 times their current value, if reports are accurate) that accomplished exactly what they wanted it to accomplish just to appease the public was similarly unrealistic.

It's not that Trump is so stupid and insecure that he couldn't accept defeat. It's that his supporters are just as stupid and ignorant as is Trump. They believed his lies even though there is ZERO evidence of fraud or miscalculation in the 2020 election.

If they weren't foolish followers, Fox's money, the convicted insurrectionists and all the rest wouldn't have been wasted. It's truly pathetic.

At least 1/3 of Americans are ignoramuses. They're also filled with hatred and bigotries.

Not to go off-topic but this stupidity reminds me of the believers of a flat Earth or that the Moon landings were faked. Those people are irredeemably ignorant and uneducated.

Simply, the sooner he kicks the bucket, the better for the USA.

And I mean the uneducated/hate-filled/bigots. They seem to have a hard time distinguishing truth from lies, and Trump simply appeals to their worse natures.

As for the media, if Trump didn't have such a long history in the public eye, I don't think there'd be as much focus on him. I think they are also fascinated by his ability to lie his ass off and not lose any power in the GOP camp.

As for other Republicans, Trump has gathered a group of wild-eyed rabid followers who will threaten anyone who disagrees with Trump. They are scared shitless of his followers, which speaks very poorly of their character.

and the GOP off the hook. It wasn't merely because Trump could not admit he lost. It should be "All because one (minority) group of Americans simply could not accept a Black man or a White woman as President in a system which was designed to give people who saw Black people and White women as lesser beings."

Yes, the catalyst was Trump losing the election but the fundamental core that made people willing to even vote for him in the primary was always there.
