We've seen some wonderful come and go and sadly pass away over the last two decades.
DU has more than two and a half registered users since I joined, maybe even three times as many.

(21,535 posts)people who insist that photos of dead children after a school mass shooting should be published. To see the mangled body of your own child everywhere you turn has got to be a hideous nightmare.

(3,356 posts)The weather, temperature, environment inside the building, the shirt I was wearing, etc. It snapped me into a darker realization of who we (a nation? a culture? a species?) often are, and the hideous paths we often seem to be taking. I took no lessons from that day, and still feel cold thinking about it.

(65,110 posts)I took the day off to wait for the doctor to call. With that type of news on the horizon, being at work was a bad idea.
Watching something (don't remember what) and breaking news.
Switched to CNN and watched it most of the rest of the day.
So, it's been 28 years today that my diagnosis was confirmed. Fortunately, i ended up with a one in 10 thousand case in terms of modest effects.
I got over that news a lot better than a lot of those families who lost loved ones that say in OKC.
