(8,481 posts)Democrats pressed Plakon on the impact the legislation has on anyone whose gender identity doesnt align with their birth certificate.
Is there a concern that a trans kid is not going to be able to pee because they dont feel comfortable going to the bathroom that might reflect the gender identity that they were assigned at birth versus when they express today? asked Rep. Anna Eskamani, an Orlando Democrat. Has there ever been any thought to what a trans kid or adult what their options are in that situation?
Plakon said plainly no, that wasnt a consideration in crafting the bill....

(38,806 posts)It is the term used by trans individuals to describe that letter on their birth certificate, which does not match their gender.
(A clue is that it was a Democrat who used the phrase.)

(23,413 posts)Noted at birth, doesn't sound so harsh. Or maybe there's some irony in the choice of words I don't get that makes it the right phrase for the discussion.

(258,571 posts)But I still don't understand why my former senator didn't take office, she got the most votes and was the choice of the people. We really can't let that happen again.

(60,423 posts)The Republicans will NEVER allow the popular vote to determine the winner of the presidency until they have managed to perfect voter suppression to such a degree as to deny a majority of Democrats their right to vote. They're not there yet, so the Electoral College is still their best shot. The choice of the people is none of their concern. The choice of Fox Noise is what matters to them.

(258,571 posts)They've had lots of practice in numerous states and it's terrifying to think they'd go national again. They've already caused numerous crises just by having a slight majority in the House. And I still remember the 2016 campaign when we heard about no one but TFG to the exclusion of all other candidates. I couldn't wait till the election was over so we'd never have to hear from or about him again. And yet here we are, he's been out of office for over half of Joe Biden's term - and he's still dominating the news each and every day, and gets more unhinged and offensive by the day.
