Biden says McCarthy risking default on national debt: 'What are MAGA Republicans doing in Congress?'

Earlier this year, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and President Joe Biden seemed to agree they wouldn't negotiate the debt ceiling and federal spending fight in the press.

This week has undoubtedly shown a shift in strategy.

McCarthy spoke to reporters and Wall Street CEOs Monday at the New York Stock Exchange, where he said House Republicans will lift the debt limit if Biden agrees to spending cuts. He vowed he would not let the U.S. default on its obligations, such as Social Security payments and military paychecks, and blamed the president for the ongoing showdown.

Biden, striking back Tuesday, accused McCarthy of threatening to become the first speaker to default.

Now they want to make this a yearly political theater event where they hold the economy hostage to their demands that the lower and middle class pay the price for that big giveaway.
The Democrats need to stand strong here and make sure everyone knows what the real story is, and how the Republicans are risking serious damage to the national economy; damage that will be felt at all levels of the economy, and in all American households.

If the Democrats were to cave in to Republican demands, there would still be serious, lasting damage to a large majority of lower and middle class families, in the form of cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, WIC, and probably Veterans benefits.
Anything that helps people would be on the chopping block.
And then, of course, the Republicans would blame the Democrats for having these programs in the first place, which they always has said are fiscally irresponsible, socialist giveaways.

We know the Republicans have always been driven by greed, and a need to seize absolute political and social power over all Americans. This is just one aspect of their plan to replace our Democratic Republic with a facist, Putin style, false Republic; one that is merely a dictatorship in which they hold all the power and make all the decisions.
