Senator Feinstein needs to resign.

She has had a long and illustrious career. She is hurting the party because of ego thinking she is going to return and be a productive
member of the Senate. There comes a time in everyone's life when you have to face reality and move on.

But for the good of the Congress now I wish she would. Dianne has been a wonderful Senator with many accomplishments, she can be proud.

On the other hand I can name several Republicans who need to go. Grassley, Graham, he is nuts and Ted Cruz.. Josh Hawley is a traitor.

McTurtle has signaled his intention to block her replacement on the committee even if she resigns. So that needs to be taken into account. Her resignation will apparently not solve the problem, because the Repukes have gotten their teeth into a new way to obstruct judicial nominees, and they won't be letting it go.

He is a political opportunist who ruthlessly pursues increasing his side's power. Look to his history of proclaiming a position on an issue as standing upon an inviolable standard/principle and flipping the script the minute he can gain from doing so. (Painfully obvious example: Scalia/Garland vs RBG/Handmaiden)

If you cannot spot this as a reason not to take risks based upon words which escaped his face-hole, I cannot help you protect yourself from harm.

There are a batch of nominees who were already passed out of committee before Feinstein’s absence, and are just awaiting floor votes for final confirmation- they should be safe.

Last week, Biden submitted a new batch of a couple dozen nominees to the committee; those nominees, and any future nominees, would be blocked by Republicans if Feinstein should resign.

This far her absence has not really resulted in a negative impact. If she resigns the repubs will not allow is to replace her. So do you really want her to resign? Why?

They correctly assert it has never been done before and the don’t see a reason to do it now. There is a process for replacing a Senator who is unable to complete their term.

She is dependent on her staff to tell her what to do.

They are not even bringing the call for her resignation to her attention.

She's truly in a bubble surrounded by people desperately clinging to their jobs.

member of the Senate?

She was a productive member of the Senate for the four years of her current term prior to her shingles illness. Over the last nine months of 2022, she missed only 2 votes out of 300. In the last Congress she sponsored more legislation than some of her colleagues and saw more of those bills through to enactment than some of her colleagues. Between Januar 3 and her becoming ill in late February, she missed only two votes -- fewer than Bernie Sanders, Bob Casey, and John Fetterman. She didn't miss any Judiciary Committee votes during that time -- something that Peter Welch of Vermont can't say -- he missed a bunch of Judiciary Committee votes on February 2. Fortunately, believe it or not, Lindsay Graham broke with the rest of the Repubs on the Committee and provided the deciding vote in support of 10 of the nominees being considered.

The same opportunity given to other Democrats. Fetterman missed 53 of 64 votes in February and March. He suffered a stroke and had mental health issues. He has received the exact opposite treatment.

If Feinstein is still having complications at the three month mark, it’s quite possible that it won’t get better. Until then, I’m a bit disgusted at those using this opportunity to voice full throttled attacks questioning the motives and mental status of one of our longest sitting Democrats.

Calling for her resignation now doesn’t help anyone but the GOP.
