Welcome back to the Top 10 Conservative Idiots! Bonjour, Paris! We made it! We are here! Can you believe that it’s been 300 editions since we started this thing? I know, time flies doesn’t it? We’ve come a long way since then, and the 2024 election hasn’t even started yet! We didn’t expect to last this long either! So you might be asking “why Paris?” and we answer “why not?”. Well when we started planning this edition back at the beginning of the season, we wanted to do a clip / highlight show, but we already did that in our 5th anniversary special (see: Idiots #11-15 ). But then we remembered how much fun we had when we went to London (see: Idiots #5-23 ) and we decided that we wanted to do another one of these editions, so we came here! And man we picked the right time to visit, didn’t we? You guys know how to stage a fucking protest! American protests are like “We have to get a permit and we can only protest between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, the same time the banks close, because we don’t want to get stuck in traffic!”. French protests are like “Let’s burn this motherfucker down to the ground!”. Which, being from Los Angeles, we refer to that here as “Lakers championship celebration”. Because, you know, priorities, right? If only people put as much effort as they do in a sports championship win as they do people getting shot or televangelists making billions and not paying anything in taxes. Hey at least you guys have retirement! In the US, our retirement is “work until you drop dead as a Wal-Mart greeter”. So where do we begin for our 300th edition special? By talking about our host country for starters! In the number one slot this week is the French Protests(1). That’s right, Emmanuel Macron is taking some heat (both literally and figuratively) over raising the retirement age from 65 to 67 and the good people of France aren’t taking this shit sitting down, they’re taking it to the streets! In the second slot this week is the Mystery Trump Classified Document Leaker (2). And if you can guess, the right wing has their underwear in a wad because he’s a young, white, conservative Christian male who posted racist memes on a gaming chatroom, and of course the usual group is playing identity politics. Sigh. In the number three slot is the tyrannical governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis (3). Yes, the reigning king of Florida Men is going full tyrant on America’s abortion issue, and this latest piece of legislation that just passed is the stuff of pure fucking evil. Speaking of evil, in the 4th slot is that most American of institutions called the National Rifle Association (4). Yes, the NRA held its’ annual convention last week, and while mass shootings and fears of mass shootings are at an all time high, the annual gun convention rah rah rally was the stuff of sheer insanity! In the fifth slot this week is Fox News (5). The “We Report, You Decide” network is taking some heat for the Dominion lawsuit, which is starting any day now and could potentially have some serious consequences for the network! Taking the sixth slot this week is our weekly visit to the Holy Church Of The Top 10 in “Holy Shit” (6) and this week our pastor has been digging up some dirt on the right wing extremist protest group called Moms For Liberty, and if they come to your city, you should automatically assume that they are up to no good! In the number 7 slot this week, we profile Clarence Thomas’ billionaire Nazi sugar daddy Harlan Crow (7) in a new edition of This Fucking Guy! Taking the 8th slot this week is a new edition of our semi-weekly foray into the ever-evolving world of tin foil hat nuttery with Conspiracy Corner (8)! Boy, we picked the right time to visit France, didn’t we? You know it’s our mission statement here at the Top 10 Conservative Idiots that we point out that conservative idiocy isn’t just a uniquely American problem. Now I know I shouldn’t be too hard on Emmanuel Macron, because if he leaves, you guys are stuck with Putin’s BFF, far right white supremacist Marine La Pen. Yeah so there is that. But let’s contrast America and France for a minute. You guys get retirement. Here in America, our retirement age is “what retirement?”. You’ll be lucky to drop dead as a Wal-Mart greeter when you’re 92, if you live that long. Thanks to the people who call themselves “pro life”. As we learned in Canada, during that insane trucker protest (see: Idiots #12-5 ), far right protestors are the same wherever you go. In France? They’re no different, as the latest news would suggest.

France’s Constitutional Council on Friday approved President Emmanuel Macron’s controversial raising of the retirement age, as nationwide protests rumbled on.

The council passed the core of the pension reforms, including the increase in the retirement age for most workers from 62 to 64, but removed six additional provisions as had been expected.

It also rejected a bid to hold a citizens’ referendum on the changes.

Macron’s unpopular plan to raise France’s retirement age was enacted into law Saturday. The president’s signature and publication in the Official Journal of the French Republic allowed the law to enter into force.

The authorized changes will start being implemented in September, French government spokesperson Olivier Veran said.

Nobody likes anything that is being proposed, whether you’re in the United States or France or England. Right wing and far right wing legislation will never win. In France, when presidents take strolls among the public, they’re described as “taking a crowd bath.” Emmanuel Macron took a very cold one on Wednesday.

Braving hecklers who shouted for him to resign, the French leader threw himself into the uphill task of repairing damage done to his presidency by forcing through unpopular pension reforms, taking his first such “crowd bath” since he enacted the law last week.

The visit to eastern France, close to the border with Germany, was part of a concerted new effort by Macron and his government to put the furor caused by the pension change behind him. Raising the retirement age from 62 to 64 has ignited a months-long firestorm of protest in France.

The uproarious climate of discontent threatens Macron’s ability to get some other planned policies through in the remaining four years of his second and last term. He got to see first-hand how unhappy people still are when he mingled among a crowd in the town of Selestat.

No time to dilly dally, Mr. Macron! There’s no mistake that this is a colossal fuck up and probably won’t win Mr. Macron any new converts or voters. But the damage is definitely done. Will it cost Macron the upcoming election? Probably. Hopefully you guys won’t get stuck with Marine La Pen, which is what this exercise was designed to do. But here’s the really fucked up thing – you know that he knows that this legislation is extremely unpopular. So why did he do it? I would say the answer is because “fuck you, that’s why” but I’m sure that there’s a lot more to it than that. This guy knows what I’m talking about!

In Paris, the gatherings quickly turned into spontaneous demonstrations in several neighborhoods, with some people setting fire to trash cans as police attempted to disperse the crowd. Hundreds of people also started marching in the western cities of Rennes and Nantes.

In many other places across France, the protests remained peaceful, with people chanting and dancing in front of city halls to the sound of pots and pans used as drums. Many reject the changes as unfair, arguing the government could have raised taxes on the wealthy or employers instead.

That’s kind of what it’s like right now, both in France and America. These laws are being passed not because they are doing what’s right – in fact it’s wrong on every single level. But they’re doing this out of fear of keeping their jobs because they’ll be slammed by the right wing conspiracy theory propaganda machine if they don’t. A free climber known as the "French Spiderman" scaled a 38-storey skyscraper in Paris on Wednesday to demonstrate his support for protesters angry about a pension law that will delay the age at which people can retire in France.

Alain Robert, 60, climbs without a harness, using only his bare hands and a pair of climbing shoes.

The suspect in the leak of classified Pentagon documents posted on social media has been charged under the Espionage Act with unauthorized retention and transmission of national defense information and unauthorized removal of classified information and defense materials.

Jack Teixeira, a 21-year-old airman with the Massachusetts Air National Guard, made his first appearance in federal court in Boston Friday morning following his arrest by the FBI in North Dighton, Massachusetts, on Thursday.

According to charging documents, Teixeira held a top secret security clearance and allegedly began posting information about the documents online around December 2022, and photos of documents in January.

Teixeira’s arrest came a week after the initial public disclosure that the classified material had been posted online to a small Discord group, a social media platform popular with gamers. The documents, some of which have been reviewed by CNN, included a wide range of highly classified information, including eavesdropping on key allies and adversaries and blunt assessments on the state of the Ukraine war.

Members of a private Discord group claim that the Massachusetts Air National Guardsman who leaked classified U.S. intelligence documents did so because he wanted to show off rather than wanting to inform the public about U.S. military operations, reports the Associated Press.

Jack Teixeira, who was arrested by the FBI and charged in U.S. District Court in Boston on Friday, was linked to the online group where the leaked documents first appeared. He faces charges under the Espionage Act (18 U.S.C. 793), which criminalizes the unauthorized handling and sharing of closely held national defense documents.

According to the newswire, Teixeira managed a Discord group called Thug Shaker Central, where approximately 20 to 30 individuals had gathered over shared interests in guns, memes and video games. There, hundreds of pages of intelligence briefings were uploaded.

The leaked documents contain sensitive information regarding Canada, China, Israel and South Korea, along with the military situation in the Indo-Pacific and the Middle East.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) Thursday defended 21-year-old Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira—who was arrested in connection with a massive leak of classified intelligence documents—suggesting that the Biden Administration was targeting him for his opposition to U.S. military support for Ukraine.

In a tweet on Thursday, Greene identified Teixeira as “white, male, christian, and antiwar” and said this makes him “an enemy to the Biden regime.”

The Georgia lawmaker then implied that President Joe Biden’s administration was “the real enemy” for “waging war in Ukraine . . . against nuclear Russia without war powers.”

Greene defended Teixeira’s leaks, saying he revealed the truth about “troops being on the ground in Ukraine and a lot more.”

Several other lawmakers from both parties have commented on the arrest and unlike Greene, they have praised law enforcement for making the arrest and called for the alleged leaker to be punished if found guilty.

They are addicted to Fox News and they just can’t help themselves. But the legislation that Desantis is signing into law just gets worse and worse the more you dig into it. Let’s start with his unbelievably draconian anti-abortion law.

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law a bill approved by the Republican-dominated Florida Legislature to ban abortions after six weeks of pregnancy.

The governor’s office said in a statement late Thursday that he had signed the legislation. The ban gives DeSantis a key political victory among Republican primary voters as he prepares to launch an expected presidential candidacy built on his national brand as a conservative standard bearer.

The six-week ban will take effect only if the state’s current 15-week ban is upheld in an ongoing legal challenge that is before the state Supreme Court, which is controlled by conservatives.

The policy would have wider implications for abortion access throughout the South in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision last year overturning Roe v. Wade and leaving decisions about abortion access to states. Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi have banned abortion at all stages of pregnancy, while Georgia forbids the procedure after cardiac activity can be detected, which is around six weeks.

Well, I’m sure that those of you who are Disney fans have probably heard about the ongoing fight between Disney and Desantis over the controversial “Don’t Say Gay” bill, and Desantis has been attempting to instigate a government takeover of the Reedy Creek development district that controls Disney World, Epcot Center, and the land surrounding both theme parks. Well, it’s been a colossal disaster and what one would call a “cluster fuck”. But Desantis is clearly being controlled by Fox News and they’re pulling his strings here.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is taking a third swing at Walt Disney World after the company humiliated him by using an obscure property law to keep control of its self-governing status.

During a press conference in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, DeSantis announced a slew of forthcoming reprisals against the resort and theme park, including the possibility of building on the 40 square miles of land that borders it.

He floated the possibility of turning the land into a state park, another theme park, or even a state prison. Such development could affect home values on nearby properties.

"Who knows? I just think that the possibilities are endless," DeSantis said, adding that the board he appointed to oversee Disney's land would also consider selling utilities housed in the district to a private entity.

Hours after Governor Ron DeSantis (R., Fla.) unveiled new legislation that would strip Disney World of its self-granted protections, Disney Land in California announced that it will hold its “first-ever Pride Nite” in mid-June.

“The first-ever Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite is coming to @Disneyland during Pride Month in June!” the company’s official Twitter account cheered on Monday afternoon.

The announcement comes on the heels of Governor DeSantis confirming that Florida lawmakers were planning to undo Disney’s last-ditch efforts to avoid state oversight on the Reedy Creek Improvement District, a self-governing zone encompassing the theme park.

You know we’re in France for our 300th edition, and I can’t help but wonder what people in Europe think about what’s going on in the United States. So allow me to educate you on one thing in America. In the US, Americans do love their guns. And they don’t care that they don’t have to use them responsibly. We have that most uniquely American of institutions – the National Rifle Administration. And we also have the second amendment, which contains the phrase “shall not be infringed”. Which conservatives, who know nothing about what our founding fathers actually stood for, interpret that phrase way too literally, which results in some absolutely ridiculous laws being proposed and passed in those states. But this is about the National Rifle Association and their annual convention, where we see the most ridiculous gun nuts in the country gather for reasons unknown to protect their precious kill toys from being taken away, also for reasons unknown.

Former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence – the former ticket-mates who have split over Trump’s actions leading up to and during the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol – attended the gathering, and lambasted President Joe Biden.

Trump insisted that the United States does not have a “gun problem” that has led to a rash of mass shootings – but rather what he described as a mental health, social, cultural and spiritual problem. He accused Democrats of a “left-wing crusade to weaponize government against law-abiding citizens.”

Families were welcome at the 2023 annual meeting of the National Rifle Association (NRA), which began April 14 in Indianapolis.

Former Vice President Mike Pence was booed at a gathering of the country's largest gun rights lobby on Friday even as he sought to present himself as a more ardent defender of gun rights than his former boss Donald Trump.

Trump, meanwhile, used the same forum on Friday to declare he would be a "fearless champion" of Americans' right to bear arms. Trump is considered a leading contender for the Republican 2024 presidential nomination while Pence has said he is nearing a decision on a possible run.

Boos rang out in the vast Indianapolis conference room of the National Rifle Association's convention as Pence took the stage to deliver his speech, underscoring the tough battle he faces to win over Trump fans if he decides to run.

Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis on Wednesday sanctioned Fox News and its parent company, Fox Corp., for withholding evidence in the Dominion defamation suit and said he's considering further investigation and censure.

One of Grossberg's attorneys, Parisis G. Filippatos, said that lawyers for Dominion Voting Systems played recordings Fox News producer Abby Grossberg made during 2020, which were not handed over to Dominion's lawyers during discovery.

In an interview on MSNBC’s “Alex Wagner Tonight,” Filippatos shared audio also played during Wednesday’s court proceedings, with Rudy Giuliani telling Fox News host Maria Bartiromo in November 2020 "that's a little harder to tell you -- it's being analyzed right now," when asked about the voting software. Giuliani also said he "can't prove" that then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had an interest in Dominion.

As Dominion Voting Systems’s $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News gets underway, a report says the network intends to present clips from The Simpsons to the jury as part of their defense.

NBC News reported on Tuesday that the network included four Simpsons clips in their list of trial exhibits. While the purpose of these clips is unclear, the commonality is that they come from episodes where Homer Simpson casts his vote for president in the last four general elections.

These are the clips that will be shown, per the report:

— Season 20’s “Treehouse of Horror XIX” shows him attempting to cast a ballot for Barack Obama.

Well, last week in doing my research for last week’s segment about Lauren Boebert, I came across this group called Moms For Liberty. Now for those of you who are in our international audience, we’re going through some stuff in the United States, and right wing fundamentalist Christians are in the process of banning books and any mention of the LGBT community. Well, this group called Moms For Liberty, is at the forefront of some of these horrifying and incriminating book bans. I went down the wormhole on this group, and their activities, especially their after hours activities, are far more dark and sinister than you may realize. They’re far more than just an innocent Christian activist group.

Moms for Liberty, a conservative advocacy organization focused on reshaping school districts, has been active for a little over two years, having filed its papers of incorporation in January 2021. In that time, M4L has achieved remarkable growth, as it’s established chapters in almost every state in the U.S.

M4L’s growth has been particularly rapid in Pennsylvania. Presently, 29 of the commonwealth’s 67 counties have active M4L chapters, including Pittsburgh in Allegheny County and Harrisburg in Dauphin County. Notably there is not yet an M4L chapter active in Philadelphia County.

M4L’s activist agenda centers around county school districts, seeking to dominate school board elections that would enable them to remove from school libraries and curricula books and materials containing LGBT themes, racial themes, or any discussion of sex, gender or discrimination. This is an agenda they are assiduously pursuing across the country, often with success.

Last year, retired Florida educator Liz Kelly Mikitarian, dismayed and outraged by the progress the Moms were having both in Florida and nationwide, decided to take action.

Last July, the group featured Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis as the keynote speaker for its national summit in Tampa, and DeSantis recently appointed Moms for Liberty co-founder Bridget Ziegler to a board overseeing Disney theme parks in Orlando. This week, the group made national headlines after a Florida chapter chair got a graphic novel based on the diary of Anne Frank removed from a local high school’s library.

Prussman is just one participant in these nationwide battles, which have led to attacks on school board officials and teachers alike. In Sarasota County, Florida, one woman linked to Moms for Liberty suggested a gay school board member was a groomer at a public meeting. Another school board member in Brevard County said followers of one chapter were “following me to my car screaming at me” after she triumphed over their candidate in the 2020 election. “I had private investigators following me around, sending death threats to me,” she said.

To some community members—especially those working to fight Moms for Liberty’s efforts in Pennsylvania—Prussman has become a notorious instigator who hosted meetings instructing people on how to report teachers to the state and who left nasty voicemails for opponents.

And in case you’re wondering how much more this group could be more like your average Al Qaeda or Taliban, well, you will not be surprised at all to learn that members of this group have been linked to hate crimes, death threats, and harassment all throughout the country. I bet the even Darker One must be so proud!

Moms for Liberty has gotten away with repeated instances of targeted harassment while maintaining some semblance of outward innocence and respectability because it falls back on the tired excuse of just being a group of concerned parents. But in reality, Moms for Liberty wields an image of caring mothers in order to covertly — and often with impunity for its public image — spread bigotry, hate, and sometimes messages of violence.

The group’s history of harassment started at the top, with co-founder Tiffany Justice, a former Florida school board member who has been described as an “antagonizing and disruptive force” who has frequently made “inappropriate outbursts.” But it has spread well beyond her, with members — and often leadership — of various Moms for Liberty chapters harassing community members and school officials across the United States.

Justice once visited her son’s elementary school to oppose the district’s COVID-19 mask mandate, and her conduct with teachers and administrators was reportedly “so disruptive and disrespectful” that the superintendent “warned she could be barred from the campus.” Justice also went after a local news outlet that critically covered the school board, writing in leaked texts that she was “starting the takedown” of the outlet.

Jennifer Jenkins, a Brevard County School Board member who unseated Moms for Liberty co-founder Tina Descovich, traced harassment in her district back to the beginning of Moms for Liberty protests at school board meetings.

Moms for Liberty has more than 200 chapters and nearly 100,000 members. According to the organization’s website, it has at least one chapter in every state except Alaska, Idaho, Maine, Nevada and West Virginia. It has branches in 28 counties in Pennsylvania, largely across the southeast portion of the state.

Two Northampton County M4L board members make frequent appearances at Nazareth Area school board meetings, often debating topics like gender, race and social emotional learning.

The group claims that our school libraries are tainted with books dripping in CRT, which are attempting to “shame” our children for being white and causing mental “distress.” The truth is, however, Moms for Liberty does not want realistic portrayals of American history, particularly if it sheds light on the harsh but historically accurate reality that many marginalized groups, especially Black communities, have fallen victim to racism and oppression at the hands of their White counterparts.

These dangerous claims only further perpetuate ongoing racism and delegitimize the suffering and hardships that Black people have endured and continue to face. The real threat is that by allowing this ongoing rhetoric we are taking noticeable steps backward — not acknowledging or taking accountability for our missteps, and causing further damage.

This week’s This Fucking Guy is none other than Harlan Crow, who has been in the news a lot after it’s been revealed that he’s a BFF of Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas. In case you’re wondering – Clarence Thomas is one corrupt asshole. Just how corrupt is he, you might ask? Well, last week it was revealed that a key financial backer of his is this fucking guy, Harlan Crow. So let’s dig through some of his recent news and there was a lot of it. But this entire investigation came about because Justice Thomas failed to disclose some of his real estate dealings. Particularly one from 2014 in which it revealed where Thomas’ mother was living. Why is all of this important? Because, oh, I don’t know, he’s judging the supreme law of the land and was instrumental in overturning Roe V Wade, that’s why! Yes, thank you audience! Phew, now that I got that off my chest, here’s why all of this is relevant in the news this week.

And that deal may have saved her more than $150,000 in rent for the property, according to Zillow estimates.

Last week, ProPublica revealed Crow's undisclosed 2014 purchase of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' childhood home in Savannah, Georgia — part of a widening scandal around Thomas and Crow's close relationship.

An occupancy agreement allows Thomas' 94-year-old mother, Leola Williams, to stay in the home without paying rent for the rest of her life, CNN reported. While Williams doesn't pay rent, she's responsible for other expenses such as property taxes and insurance, CNN added.

According to Zillow's estimates for what the property would cost to rent, Williams could have saved as much as $154,900 over the years.

Crow welcomed the commission members at the door but he did not stay for the meal. The dinner was held in a section of Crow’s library where, according to Oxtoby, no offensive or controversial material was in view. But members were invited to examine the rest of the collection in other rooms, and several who did encountered disturbing items. This past weekend, danah boyd, the tech scholar and Microsoft employee who was a commission member, tweeted about that evening. She said she had been “deeply shaken by the Nazi memorabilia.” She added, “Years later, I still shudder thinking about the Nazi uniform decorations in Harlan Crow’s house. And the painting… And the ‘antebellum’ (pro slavery) artifacts.”

Ethan Zuckerman, a University of Massachusetts, Amherst professor of public policy, communication, and information, was also part of the group, and he echoed boyd’s reaction with his own tweets. He recalled, “What struck me was that Crow clearly knew there was controversy in deciding to keep Nazi artifacts in his house. In a display room off the balcony to his library was a set of swastika emblazoned dishes, silverware and linens,” he wrote, explaining that the items were behind a leather cover.

Crow then chose to sit down for an interview with The Dallas Morning News on Sunday to “set the record straight” regarding the “factually incorrect” coverage being published in connection to his once-secret relationship with Thomas.

“I think it’s a political hit job,” Crow told the outlet during a two-hour interview over the weekend. “I don’t think the media cares really much about Harlan Crow, and I think they’re right. They shouldn’t care much about Harlan Crow.”

“But I think that the media, and this ProPublica group in particular, funded by leftists, has an agenda to destabilize the [Supreme] Court,” he continued. “What they’ve done is not truthful. It lacks integrity.”

GOP Megadonor Harlan Crow slammed detailed reporting about him financing some of Justice Clarence Thomas' luxury travel while also struggling to answer what if any relationship he would have with Thomas if he wasn't on the nation's highest court.

Well, it was the stuff of pure, absolute, unedited insanity. And it just goes on and on and on.

In his first public interview since being arraigned on federal charges of falsification of business records, Donald Trump sat down with Tucker Carlson for an interview where the Fox host was more set prop than one of the biggest names in cable news.

None of the bravado Carlson displayed when texting coworkers that he hated Trump “passionately” and believed he was a “demonic force” was present in the interview aired Tuesday. The Fox host deferred to the former president at every turn and simply folded as Trump hijacked the post-arraignment billing of their discussion in favor of airing another installment of his own Trump Show.

Carlson was a passenger to his own interview. The former president briefly addressed the arraignment, asserting that he did “nothing wrong” and claiming employees at the Manhattan courthouse had cried and apologized to him. The rest of the interview was dominated by Trump’s virtually unchecked rantings. Before breaking for a commercial early in the show, Carlson admitted to viewers that while he intended to discuss the criminal case against Trump, the interview was dominated by Trump’s stream of conscious musings – which touched on foreign policy, his personal “n-word” (nuclear energy), and how attractive he found Chinese President Xi Jinping’s language interpreter.

For those not familiar, the movie centers on Mario and Luigi, two Brooklyn plumbers who find themselves helping Princess Peach defend her magical kingdom from a powerful villain named Bowser. In its first five days of release, the movie grossed $204 million in its opening weekend and set records for the biggest five-day opening weekend, the biggest worldwide opening for an animated film, and the biggest opening weekend for a movie based on a video game. The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a four-quadrant box office hit.

Yet despite all the money the film generated, if one looks online somehow, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is controversial. Everything online is typically amplified and made to be a bigger deal than it is. The harmless kids' movie has not been brought into the middle of culture wars that dominate so much of pop culture with much of it in bad faith. With that in mind who, if anybody, is actually boycotting The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and what are the supposed issues with the movie?

John Leguizamo is having an incredible run of films lately, with his three most recent films, Encanto, The Menu, and Violent Night all being hit with critics and audiences. Leguizamo also played Luigi in 1993's Super Mario Bros., the first attempt at bringing the iconic Nintendo franchise to the big screen and a major disappointment. The film was hated by everyone who made it, with the late Bob Hoskins calling it the biggest regret of his career. Yet it was notable for casting a Latin actor like Lugizamo as Luigi.

Now some right wing commentators, like Steven Crowder or even Alex Jones, are attributing the movies' success to it being “anti-woke”. Seems like the conservatives online are a little confused on the topic, as others call it woke trash.

It almost looks like right-wingers don't have a solid definition on what they consider “woke” and instead throw it at everything they don't like, as some kind of insult.

Some dude even went so far as to cry about the popular Rainbow Road from Mario Kart, calling it “disgusting they had to include woke pride flag nonsense”.

Just a few days ago, Nintendo released the second trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, giving us all a better look at Illumination's take on Mario, Peach, Bowser, and Luigi, as well as giving us a first look at Donkey Kong and the rest of the DK Crew. Reception to the trailer has been largely positive from Nintendo fans, who have celebrated all the references and in-jokes that are present, as well as the fluid animation.

Of course, there are always going to be idiots on the internet who take everything far too seriously and try to assign politics to it, even if the subject is something as silly as two Italian plumbers who say "let's-a-go" and smash bricks with their hands. Some particularly angry Mario "fans" are even calling the movie woke thanks to its use of Rainbow Road and the characterisation of Princess Peach and Mario.

People would be allowed to bring guns into places of worship if they have a concealed carry permit under a bill proposed by a Missouri Republican.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Ben Baker, a Neosho Republican, was heard by the House Emerging Issues Committee Wednesday, and would strike down the current rule prohibiting concealed guns in places of worship without the permission of the religious leader of the congregation.

Baker said pastors urged him to file the legislation because they do not want to be the person to determine who can carry guns in places of worship. “It can put them in a really bad position to say yes to some, and then others be upset. So it’s just they don’t want to be involved,” Baker said. “As long as people have had the training to have the CCW, they don’t care.”

JEFFERSON CITY — Legislators in the Missouri House have approved a measure allowing concealed carry permit holders to possess firearms on public transportation.

The Republican-dominated chamber approved the legislation late Monday, over the objections of Democrats, who criticized the bill in the wake of a Kansas City shooting in which an 84-year-old man shot a 16-year-old who knocked on his front door last week, as well as a recent shooting on the St. Louis MetroLink.

In Kansas City, the teen, Ralph Yarl, was recovering at home Monday. Andrew Lester, the white man who shot the Black teen, was charged with armed assault in the case.

“A child was gunned down for ringing a doorbell,” said Rep. Ashley Aune, D-Kansas City. “We fight so hard in this room for more guns in more places, and we forget about the actual lives lost.”

A Missouri pastor likely saved his own church members from a potentially dangerous situation — while continuing with the service the entire time.

Pastor Marquaello Futrell of Ferguson was leading Sunday service at All Creation Northview Holiness Family Church in February when he noticed four young men come in and sit down toward the back of the church. He could tell they had guns in their waistbands.

One of the men had two bags. What they planned to do, the pastor still doesn’t know, but at that moment he kicked into action.

Without the gunmen knowing, Futrell got his audio-visual team to move the camera to capture their faces on the church’s livestream. He quietly alerted the church director to get the children to safety.

Futrell told local news outlet KDSK that he used his instincts as a former St. Louis police officer to start questioning the men, and calling them out.

It’s like they just don’t care at all how many shootings we have. They just find new ways to make our lives miserable and that we should live in fear of the firearm. But I heard something interesting the other day – Montana is a red state that is deeply intwined with firearms, mainly out of tradition. Because Montana is a huge hunting state and hunting traditions run deep. But it’s only a matter of time before they stop hunting animals and start hunting something much bigger than deer. The most dangerous game.

A customer forgot a firearm at a business last week, and the business was disappointed with the irresponsible conduct, said Charles Robison, with the Montana Chamber of Commerce.

Now, that business is considering putting up a “No weapons” sign to avoid similar problems in the future.

“Should a business like this lose the right to compete for state contracts?” said Robison (he didn’t name the business; avoiding proper names is protocol in committee).

Robison shared the anecdote Wednesday in testimony against Senate Bill 361, largely opposed by the finance industry in Montana.

Governor Greg Gianforte criticized the Biden administration for issuing a rule which undermines the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Montana gunowners.

The Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) recently revised criteria for firearms with stabilizing braces, subjecting nearly all firearms with attached stabilizing braces to taxation and registration requirements of the National Firearms Act.

“This decision further erodes the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Montanans,” Gov. Gianforte wrote in a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland. “Our right to keep and bear arms is integral to Montana’s and our nation’s rich heritage, and this rule directly violates our long-held traditions. The rule also ignores the design and intent of stabilizing braces – to help disabled veterans fire large format pistols.”

In the letter, the governor emphasized the rule is unenforceable by the State of Montana due to protections in state law he championed in 2021.

“As a matter of law, the State of Montana and its political subdivisions cannot enforce, or assist the ATF with enforcement, of this rule,” the governor wrote.

Oh and by the way, according to the TSA, you know which state leads the country in the amount of firearms that are being passed through metal detectors in airports? That’s right – Montana! Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers in Montana detected a record 50 firearms in travelers’ carry-on luggage in 2022, with the greatest number of firearms discovered at Billings Logan International Airport. Every one of these firearms was discovered during the routine X-ray screening of carry-on property. Nationwide last year, TSA officers found 6,542 firearms at 262 different airports.

The trend in Montana mirrors the trend nationwide when it comes to the number of firearms travelers are bringing to the security checkpoint. Their new album is called “Return Of The Dream Canteen”, you can see them in San Diego on May 12th, Phoenix May 14th, Houston on May 25th, and at the Bottle Rock Festival in Napa.
